Data sadist. High quality, high variance, galaxy-brained takes. Urbanism, rage against cruelty and inefficiency, scifi/fantasy, shoegaze, stats and programming. I live in Denver, say hi if you're on Ikon.
The one "parental estrangement" in my inlaws involves parents who are beginning stage Alzheimer's, a kid who is a high-functioning drunk, and just a fuckton of bad relationship management skills.

The inciting incident was using the f-bomb on that sacred space, a golf course.

Segregated social spaces all go insane; they turn characteristic virtues up until they become pathologies. Care becomes recursive harm-processing, masculinity becomes domination jackass, academia becomes trivia for status. Every scene becomes a safe space for a turbo-anima(e) demon.

When you doom too hard and the algo starts feeding you red ET posts, which are so dumb you start dooming less

Every Republican running for election in 2028 should have ads up against them saying they could have impeached and convicted Trump and saved us from this mess and chose not to
the dems will not have the votes to convict, so absent cerebrovascular health donald trump will be president until 1200 on 20 Jan 29, that's the hand the voters dealt the country

A lot of people are calling my view that Ohio peasants shouldn't be allowed to leave their ancestral steel plant to move to a borough "feudalist", but I also support multi-generational tenancy rights for specific ethnicities by neighborhood.

EA, utilitarianism, and communism have some good ideas, but are just varieties of the same problem: not appreciating the limits of individual knowledge.

Why can't there be a sex cult in SF that gets plentiful cyberpunk housing and transit built. More Back Doors in My Backyard - MBIMBY

I don't really think paywalls worked. News could be funded by private rich person foundation money, or as extensions of in-person social organizations (like the old union newspapers)
My issue with paywalls that I do think rises above simple personal grievance is that the misinformation news outlets don’t use them & now people’s perception of reality is upside down & I think those two things are connected

The hugging face incident shows why humans use ambiguous communication. It was a mob behaviour.

If pro-lifers were consistent they'd see getting a blood donation as becoming a dual-souled chimera.

Traditionally the way to get rid of a corrupt/brutal police force was to set up a second, concurrent police force to displace them and/or call in the militia against them

I don't want to sit at a desk
I don't want to stand at a desk
I want to be in a deep squat while doing focused work, but my chair rolls on its casters and facilities tells me not to stand on my chair like a goofball

There are many important political issues, you have to compromise with the body politic we have, and I'd crawl over glass to vote for W if he was running against Hitler.

The Noid has earned our support:

- NB: not a moid, not a foid — a noid
- I’d be on an anti-pizza jihad too if I lived in the ’90s. No DoorDash pho, BBQ, or tacos al pastor? Grim.
- vinyl furry superhero suit: insane aura
- just a weird little guy

This is funny because Kansas is both in between where I grew up (Ohio) and where I live now (Colorado), but also where my parents grew up. And I have not talked about rolly-pollys since I was 5.

Why do people like regular table grapes? Concord grapes are what grapes are supposed to taste like.

The seeds are annoying, but thomcord grapes are seedless and almost as tasty, only packing the wonderful contrast of jeely interior and wet subskin layer.

This reminds me of the time some student group publicized "wear jeans on Tuesday to support our fringe idea" and then wouldn't shut up all week about how many people supported them.
RT @LeadingReport: Two female jurors in the Lindsay Clancy trial are reportedly wearing pink in the courtroom today.

Widow's Bay is exactly how I like my horror. Less the surgery and burn victim wing of the hospital and more the "Do I need antipsychotics?" wing.

So sure, there are myriad micro- and macroaggressions that I as a straight white guy have never experienced. But what about the pain of ordering a meal "HOT, make me hurt" and getting at most a slight hint of heat?

Politics is a spectrum of how long you need to live somewhere before your voice counts. Tom doesn't think 9 months over 3 semesters is enough. NIMBYs don't think a few years is enough. The anti-immigrant chuds don't think 40 years and 2 generations is enough.
Well, that's a new one. "College kids should be able to vote to overcome the wishes of the people who actually live in the place where they go to school"
To avoid homelessness, college students should vote where they live nine months out of the year. If they don’t, they will be outvoted by faculty and alumni who moved to the college town, bought themselves a home, and then used exclusionary zoning to block the housing needed by the next generation.
