my wife has a friend who sent Dolly Parton a painting she made & a letter explaining how much Dolly's music meant to her while she was transitioning. Dolly responded to it personally & paid for her top surgery. Sounds like an urban legend but it's real. I think we're going to more stories like this.

Dolly could have been a billionaire, and she chose not to be. Let that sink in.

Parton's legacy is proof that you can be a wealthy, powerful, genius who is kind and loved. The jerks at the top are like that by choice.

As a south sider, I am by default a White Sox fan. I went to a bunch of games when it was still Comiskey, and I have a soft spot for Frank Thomas. So I of course love all the "Pope Leo is a Sox fan!" stories. And fun fact: we grew up 15 minutes away from each other! www.nytimes.com/2026/08/07/b...
A Pope From Chicago Was Elected. The White Sox Were Resurrected.
The elevation of Pope Leo XIV, a Chicago native and lifelong supporter of the Sox, was a godsend for a team failing on the field and with fans.

Clive Davis really did curate the soundtrack of my childhood, and I’m truly thankful for that. What I’ll remember him most for was continuing with his Grammy party while Whitney Houston’s still-warm dead body was upstairs. May he rest in hell.

“Parable of the Sower” fundamentally shifted how I viewed the world: specifically religion/spirituality and what community really is. A true masterpiece.

People who are barefoot on planes.
People who try fill their water bottle up in the bathroom on planes.
People who drink the coffee made on planes.

(A list of people I don’t understand on planes)

(That last one is niche, look it up at your own risk)

I love how people can breezily be like “so much that divides people” like it’s a brunch menu when the division is over whether people should be dead or not
NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on Trump coming to Madison Square Garden

"He's welcome to be here. What makes sports so special, especially when there’s so much that divides people, is it’s something that we have in common."

Farmers are getting hammered by Trump’s erratic policies.

And before we jump straight to FAFO, listen to this Wisconsin farmer. I’m not even sure he was ever a Trump voter.

His analysis of the situation is smarter than most of what’s coming out of DC right now.

Hunter Biden spending his whole day every day on Twitter being like "I'm not a pedophile, I was smoking crack with ADULT hookers at the Super 8 outside of Newark, you guys have pictures of all of it INCLUDING my hog from My Leaked Stolen Laptop™" is a masterstroke. Should've done this years ago.

Being a woman is struggling with fertility, being told you won’t have biological children, seeing other women announce their pregnancies, being angry sad frustrated spiteful, watching their updates a ball of nerves while holding your breath, and feeling immense joy to hear mama and baby are all good
