It is done. Two months of playing, five games, three regions. I have successfully assembled a complete generation 3 living dex from scratch.
What an incredible journey. A feat I dreamed of as a starry-eyed kid playing Emerald for the first time and wanting to experience every bit of it.

Years ago I got a used copy of Omega Ruby from my wife's cousin. He had hacked to give himself Hoopa and Eternal Flower Floette, and they can't be transferred to Home because they fail legality checks. So they've been sitting in a "Hacker jail" Bank box, and I intend to let them burn down with Bank.

I'm not generally a fan of Alola's shiny sparkles because I don't like how the giant star obscures the Pokemon's face, but if you can manage to get a screenshot right as the star is fading out, it can make for some pretty photos.

I transferred the LeafGreen one up since I figured that would be the more problematic of the two, and I managed to get it into Home without it being flagged. But strangely, it states it's from the Hoenn region despite having never touched a Hoenn game:

Some people were curious how this worked, so I tested it by trading a Black Flute to my LeafGreen - and I can confirm that a hard reset (playing the flute, saving, and then shutting the system off completely) does work!

So it was recently discovered that you CAN redeem Channel Jirachi in Emerald - if you've specifically beaten Roxanne at least 4 times. For whatever reason, Emerald's internal flag for having done that is the same flag that R/S uses for entering the Hall of Fame. Sounds weird, but yeah, it works!

Shiny Partner Cap Pikachu after a staggering 15,510 SRs. Utterly stunned. I started this hunt last December, but with Bank's shutdown looming, I knew I needed to finish it. This is the one shiny I feel 100% confident is never coming back, because it was never supposed to exist in the first place.

I was planning to hunt the Z-A fossils for Fossil Week but tbh, the Bank shutdown has me so frazzled that I think I need to devote my shiny hunting time to finishing the necessary hunts before that deadline. It's going so poorly so far and I'm really worried. 😭

Forgot to post about this yesterday bc I was so wiped out from traveling all day but a flight attendant on my flight home saw me hunting Partner Cap Pikachu and directly asked me "are you shiny hunting?". I was so caught off guard, never talked to a total stranger who knew what that was lmao
