Important - as with the Tea Party in 2010, the DSA is driven by anti-system sentiment, not a sharp shift in the electorate. Likely to be misunderstood (as it was with the Tea Party, which didn't actually want Romney-Ryan entitlement cuts).
Here’s a huge data point in the current debate about why DSA candidates are suddenly winning everywhere:

Bernie Sanders is the most favorable Democratic political figure today — even among self-described ideological “moderates.”

Huh?

Oh no the Belgians would hate that.
Now Rubio comments on the soccer saga: “It was the right decision to reverse it and why would you want to play a game and win a match and then everyone would argue you didn't really win because the best player was not on the pitch during the match. Maybe we will bring it up at NATO tomorrow.”

it remains incredibly funny that basically every faction wants to wash their hands of Platner, despite the fact that uh, the establishment liberal faction explicitly did not back Platner

We are in the fight of our lives against fascism - a force that seeks to control women - from what we do with our bodies to how we live our lives. The only way to defeat this force is to repudiate it wherever it manifests, whether in legislation, executive decree, or interpersonal action.

there are very few jobs in the world where you can disappear for weeks without providing an explanation, and "member of congress" should not be one of them, imo

hot take: no one actually wants 'authenticity' in politicians: people want a performance that is both competent and has them as the target audience. lots of politicians derided as wooden and stiff are being more 'authentic' than politicians who are personable and likable, who are performing

This bizarre @newrepublic.com piece accuses me of being a proponent of American exceptionalism and someone who refuses to challenge the basic myths of American history and, uh, that is certainly a take?

I am so over the stanning of individual politicians.

There is more to political leadership than personal ethics, but if a person fails basic standards of decency there is no reason to think they’d be a good political leader.

He’s got to drop out immediately. It should’ve happened ages ago.
