Wee bit of rearranging for Day 3 (technically) of Milwaukee Irish Fest. Seo linn!
Art booth set up for Milwaukee Irish Fest with original artwork hanging and prints and blankets sitting on a table toward the back of the tent. A fan on the right behind a red chair blows mosquitoes and humidity away.

One of the furry community's originals, Roz Gibson, is in really big trouble.

She is in kidney failure, and needs a donor, so please reskeet.

www.furaffinity.net/journal/1138...
I’ve thought long and hard about making this post, but really, at this point, I don’t have much to lose. Desperate times, and all that. TLDR version: I need a kidney transplant, and I’m looking for a donor. Read below for all the gory details. Since late 2019, right before Covid hit, I’ve been battling a serious illness. I’ve been kind of cagey about what exactly is wrong, for a number of reasons, but here’s the truth—I’m in full kidney failure. There is no history of this in my family, so when the symptoms began appearing I didn’t recognize them until it was too late. By the time I went to a doctor my kidney function had dropped into the single digits. Most kidney failure is caused by diabetes or high blood pressure—I got some weird kidney disease I can’t even pronounce and never heard of: Oxalate Nephropathy. By adopting some dietary changes and careful monitoring, I was able to limp along with reduced kidney function for several years. But you don’t appreciate how much your kidneys do to keep you healthy until they stop working. There’s constant fatigue and nausea, and a general feeling of unwellness that never goes away. But eventually I lost even what minimal function I had left, which left the end of the line for kidney disease: dialysis. As of this point I’ve been on dialysis for about 3 years. Let me tell you—dialysis is its own special kind of hell that you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. But even that is just a stop-gap measure, and my condition is continuing to get worse. Despite this, I’m trying my best to live as normal a life as possible. I’m extremely lucky I have a job that’s willing to allow me 9 hours a week for dialysis, so I’m still working. On weekends I work on my art and comics, and one or two days a month I do my volunteer work at the bird-banding site. I can even travel to see my family—if I arrange for dialysis at a local clinic ahead of time. All of that is done while trying to deal with the symptoms of kidney failure. I’ve known 4 people who were on dialysis—none of them worked or really did much of anything, and at this point they’re all dead, which doesn’t really give me a lot of hope for my future. Which brings us to the point of all this—I desperately need a kidney transplant. That is the only thing that will give me a chance at a relatively normal life. I’ve been approved and on the transplant list for a few years, but the waiting period in California is very long. By the time I get to the top of it, I may be too sick to get one. Right now I’m still in relatively good condition, comparatively. A transplant from a living donor lasts much longer and is better in every way than one you get from a deceased donor. Unfortunately, everyone in my immediate family is too old or has other health problems that preclude donation. So this post is a desperate attempt to find anyone willing to donate. I realize donating a kidney is a lot different than giving ten bucks to a GoFundMe, but as I said at the beginning, at this point I don’t have much to lose by asking. Here is the living donor site: https://www.uclahealth.org/medical-.....t/living-donor You can inquire and even arrange to donate completely anonymously if that’s what you want. Hopefully there’s a Jack Salem fan out there who wants to see the stories (and the artist) continue for years to come. That is all.

Another large piece!
"Spirits of the Wild Hunted"
24 x 13 inches
Colored pencil and pan pastel on rice paper

The gold and the "glow" around the animals really shimmers, but is always lost to the scanner :P
Celtic style artwork on rice paper. From right to left Moose, Buffalo, white tailed deer, pronghorn antelope, wild boar, turkey, hare and mouse. Above from right to left - whooping crane, canada goose, mallard duck, blue bird, grouse, pileated woodpecker and mourning dove. Female in blue riding a horse leading the group. Gold knotwork connects them all. The animals have a faint yellow glow around them.

For anyone that went to an estate sale on meadow Valley Terrace in LA on the weekend of February 28 and March 1. I’m looking to get back some of my old artwork that was sold at this sale. Please share. These are some of the first sculptures I ever made when I was a kid. Very sentimental to me.

When the snow won't stop snowing, I at least had this to finish up!

I'm not ignoring the news, but here is a dog with a toy on it's head that I drew... it was a Christmas present, so I figure it is safe to share though I finished it last September :)
White/grey and brown dog (somewhat husky-looking) with floppy ears. Has a stuffed hedgehog toy on his head between his ears. Portrait from shoulders up. He is a very Good Boy.

There is an irony to the fact I said a couple years ago that AI is going to become a testing ground for csam. At that point I figured the companies would either have to admit it uses real photos or argue it's OK because it isn't real kids. The irony is I made the prediction on Twitter, which I left.

I kept taking a picture when I was "done for the day" leaning back and then doing more. My stomach is growling now so I should probably eat something.
Work in progress of two goats laying in front of some wood panels with hay in them. Current image has only the top half complete. Work in progress of two goats laying in front of some wood panels with hay in them. Current image has all the boards and the bottom left corner of the hay rack complete.
