"Influencers" really will receive a box of swag and IMMEDIATELY turn around and sell it for massive profit. Sometimes they even brag about it. It's the games press who are corrupt tho, remember
Only 100 functioning Silent Hill: Townfall CRTVs were made, sent out to different influencers before the games release, and someone's already selling theirs for over $300 😬

It's a cute toy, but savage to be like "I do not need it".

Yep. That makes sense.

Took me ages to decide on whether to pick Diablo 2 or Halo 2, but felt like it would be lame to have two Halos on the list...

I love the Halo series with all my heart. I’ve had the opportunity to meet and befriend a lot of people working on that franchise over the 11 years I’ve been in games journalism.

Everyone there loved Halo. It is heart-wrenching not only to see them taken away from it, but to see people cheer it

I feel like 10 years ago, gamers were actually interested in how games were made and the insides of game design. Now, they just take any excuse to complain about anything. It's exhausting writing about an industry where its main consumers simply could not care about anything and can't be positive

The Steam Frame coming with a free copy of Half-Life Alyx is hilarious. If you’re into VR enough to buy that headset, you already own a copy of the best VR game ever made

I didn’t have the time to play the non-VR version of Moss, but it’s a damn shame this studio is gone.

Moss was an exemplary game that showed VR didn’t have to be all first person demos. This team deserved better.

What a colossal loss.

I questioned the existence of the non VR version but it was clearly a desperation move to stay in business. Moss is one of the best uses of VR ever and they deserved so much more

The video game industry has always been volatile (I published Press Reset in 2021!) but the skeleton key to understanding the current state of things is this: Big games now cost 10x to make what they did 15 years ago but most do not generate even close to 10x the revenue. Simple as that

Rewatched Star Trek IV in the cinema today. It was amazing to see this beautiful little comedy on the big screen. Despite the fact that many of these actors passed many years ago, it hit quite hard that this crew – the crew I grew up watching with my dad – is almost all gone.

Things might be hard in game media right now, but at least you can rely on several of your peers castigating you on BlueSky for anything you write that doesn't align exactly with their idea of what game coverage should be, sometimes after only reading a headline you probably weren't responsible for

When I went to get my cat, the owners of the kennel kept pushing us towards other cats because she was too violent. The first day I saw her, she attacked me and sliced my thumb open through a handling glove.

Now she’s a sleepy little baby

I’ve fallen down the rabbit hole of listening to every version of Bizarre Love Triangle to determine the best one. There are major changes, minor tweaks, and completely different soundscapes.

Few songs are tweaked so much by their creators. Anyways, it’s the 94 version:

Late to the party (more like a wake), but I’ve finally played Black Ops 7’s campaign. Truly shocking in its quality.

Every bad faith take grifters have of how The Last Jedi ruins Star Wars is true in how this handles a bizarre legacy sequel to Black Ops and Black Ops 2. Horrific.

I don't think there's anything more enthralling about this job than sitting down and talking to a dev about their work. It's incredibly rewarding to just spend two hours having a chat, especially when I've spent decades looking up to them.

I do wish I was a more effective interviewer, though.

This is what they want with the increased console costs and removal of physical games btw

They want you renting every game, paying by the hour, with only them deciding the costs. We have to push back.
Microsoft switches to monthly hour limits in big changes to Xbox Cloud Gaming, cites rising cloud costs:

▪️Ultimate: 15 hours
▪️Premium: 10 hours
▪️Essential: 5 hours

Once subscribers use up their hours, they can buy additional cloud playtime through the Xbox Store
