Poor Take is his Stage Name
This is a poor take that suggests Owen Jones doesn't know much about Russia in the 1990s, including Russia-US or wider Russia-West relations in the 1990s. By giving only one part of the story, he is repeating the Russian political elite's self-serving line that it was all the West's fault. Long 🧵
The West helped create Vladimir Putin.

A senior Western diplomat warned in 1994 where capitalist 'shock therapy' would take Russia.

They ignored him - and ended his diplomatic career.

Can’t believe no one has ever thought of the idea of selling us hot food. I, for one, am both excited and, if I’m honest, a little apprehensive about the idea of warm food.

So from now until a month after the Budget we are going to get a bunch of these half baked tax/spend policy every week - oh joy
Universities UK wants the government to scrap employer National Insurance for everyone under 25.

It doesn’t say what that would cost. Or how many jobs it would create.

So we did the maths: £6–7bn a year, or £60-100k for every additional job.

A 🧵 on dumb tax policy.

@andrewsparrowgdn.bsky.social Simple Question I hope

If these donations are found to have been illegal/against rules etc. will Reform have to repay them? Much like everything else that consequence could be the final straw as I assume a lot of this money has already been spent

Please donate where you can - it does cost a lot to get a massive emotional punch in the guts but it will be worth it

As a new season gets underway, football fans across the country are being urged to support efforts to eradicate tragedy chanting from the game.

Tragedy chanting can land fans in serious trouble, including convictions and banning orders.

We don’t want to see football fans criminalised.

and lets not forget @georgecaulkin.bsky.social your main job these days is to make grown men cry with deeply emotional pieces about wonderful and less wonderful things going on at Newcastle Untitled. Keep up the great work
I am going to address this. The way I have done my job has been consistent for 30+ yrs. I try to find out what’s happening & explain. The only way to do that is by speaking to people & attempting to build relationships. On occasion those relationships get blurred ... I loved Sir Bobby for instance.

This all goes back to the idea that any political scandal post should go up for 24hrs without saying who it's about and see how people react (ideal world stuff)
It is silly not to apologise imo, or to make it dragged out of you did. It's a good defensive line: "of course I'll say sorry, it was an accident and shouldn't have happened" and means in future you can make a point of saying *you* apologised for your mistake so why won't X apologise for theirs?
Someone tally up how many times Victoria Derbyshire has asked Zack Polanski to apologise. It's a bit Michael Howard vs Paxo

I don’t think I can begin to get across how much this amazing man means to me, or how, in the space a of a few short months he seemed to transform the world, because, as far as I was concerned, he did.
