All summer we've been raising the alarm about this unprecedented heatwave.From 40c heat in classrooms to mums struggling at home to keep cool. It's encouraging to see the government holding & @andyburnham.bsky.social chairing a Cobra meeting today about extreme heat – at @roundourwayuk.bsky.social we have been calling from urgent action from the government on the climate impacts hitting people across the country now.

Reform clearly need a regular reminder that two MPs have been murdered in the last 10 years. Contributing to and arguably driving the increasing temperature in politics and then hating it impacting you is, honestly, maddening.

As ever, I agree with @samalvis.bsky.social - we need to take adaptation more seriously - because people and communities deserve us to - but also because it’s politically smart. We wrote a paper for you on this very thing, which is in Sam’s thread below!

Amen! there’re incredible things already happening run by amazing ppl, protecting&building spaces that are crucial & great for their communities. I’ve met some of these ppl recently & each has blown me away. @caitprowle.bsky.social ’s @coopparty.party.coop Community Britain campaign all about this!
Pride in Place could be a test case for a less technocratic and controlling style of comms too.
Why not build a comms infrastructure around the community leaders on the neighbourhood boards to help them develop their own platforms, try out new ideas and tell the story of Pride in Place themselves?
