Because abusers are so unwilling to end their control, the most deadly part of an abusive relationship is when victims attempt to leave it. This is another reason you don’t try to force victims to “just leave.” Only they can know when that is a truly viable option.

It is the ABUSER who is making the choice to maintain a relationship structured by their coercive control. And no excuses they may have for their commitment to intimate authoritarianism diminishes that choice. The abuser is the one that won’t let the relationship end, because they benefit from it.

It is for the same reason that you DO apply as much pressure as you can (within the boundaries set by the victim) on the abuser. To effect the power imbalance. The person who exerts the control is the problem to be addressed, not the victim or their choices.

The essence of an abusive relationship is entrapment. The abuser’s coercive control (in tandem with structural oppression) makes it so their victim *cannot* leave. This is why you DON’T shame victims for “staying,” you give them access to as many resources as you can. To effect the power imbalance.

The people who need to be pressured to leave relationships are abusers, not the victims who they entrap.

The main message shouldn’t be “leave relationships that are controlling” (which focuses on a victim’s behavior) but “leave relationships you can’t maintain without being controlling.”

SO much love for the covid cautious spaces that maintain their shared principles under enormous pressure to capitulate. When organizers commit to accessibility they send the message that the participation of disabled agitators is understood as critical.

I literally don’t know a single woman who hasn’t been raped, stalked, groped, harassed, or sexually violated in some way at some point in their life.

If you choose to doubt and dox survivors, just know every woman in your life is disgusted by you.

Imagine hearing these screams, breaking this window, and going home at night believing what you are doing is right and good.
Among the ICE abductions reported yesterday was a ~7:20 a.m. incident in Chicago's West Englewood neighborhood.

Per video shared online, ICE agents surrounded a car with a child in it, smashed the window and took the man in the driver's seat, as the woman next to him cried and prayed.

People are genuinely failing to identify which pieces of "journalism" are meant to make you & others hate an entire marginalized group, and it's actually terrifying. But sure, it's totally fine and not a massive red flag that conservatives are laughing along with you.

It’s so cute to see everyone having fun with this, you might enjoy the other story about Covid this morning, about a young mom with long covid who killed herself, possibly partially because her husband describes it as her being “obsessed” with her health and “refusing” to get out of bed. Funny, yeah?
Perfect intro to a story. You know I’m locked in.

Unlike Pappas, she very clearly understands the times we're living in.

NEW: Something interesting brewing in the key New Hampshire Senate race no one's talking about.

Polls show party pick Chris Pappas (backed by AIPAC, Clinton, Harris, Buttigieg) *losing* to the Republican.

But: Karishma Manzur, an anti-war scientist, is running against Pappas — and gaining on him.
