Even before a single cop or barrister enters the equation, most communities protect and shelter rapists from consequence. Cast doubt on victims. Appeal to the rapists' character, beg to consider their futures and potentials, plead for this "mistake" to be overlooked.

Victims have nothing. No one.

We all know the answer to that question. The left is a patriarchal institution defending its own which must be burned to the ground with every other patriarchal institution. You fuckers are cops.

To rape is to become an enemy. To rape is to stand with the patriarchy and become one of its shock troops. It is to step beyond simple membership of the oppressor class and to become a direct enforcer of that oppression. Why the fuck should that line be different to a nazi?

There a lines a person can cross which make them the enemy. Which make their humanity irrelevant to how we deal with them. Leftists are cool with this for fascists. Cool with it for cops. Many are cool with it for soldiers in Imperial armies. Some even for snitches. But not for rapists.
One thing I really hate about the way we talk about abusers and rapists is that the possibility of change and forgiveness is conflated with those things having actually happened.

like, if being the victim of rape by a public figure makes you the target of doxxing attempts, surely this means that the rapist should not choose to become a public figure, and not that no one should talk about him being a rapist.

I saw someone say that the people who “leaked” are exposing the victim to the possibility of getting doxxed, and I think it’s interesting that someone would blame them for this when much of it is public information and geller is the one that created this situation

and a lot of people will be gleeful at your suffering while simultaneously saying that you are lying because they deeply believe society should be structured in a way that makes you a tool, an object, a machine, to be used and abused, maybe sometimes maintained like someone maintains their property.

it never works, you can’t make other people see your humanity by showing your pain, them seeing you as human would be the precondition for them to feel like your pain matters.

it’s so common not only regarding to rape that marginalized people need to rip themselves open and show their deepest scars so that others might be able to see them as capable of being hurt, only for the harm still being dismissed, retraumatizing them for nothing
it’s become so normal for people to disclose their rapes to appeal to people’s humanity around rape cases that we don’t think about how disgusting the need to do that is

put the worst moment of your life out for public consumption, so that half the comments can call you a liar.

You can't expect better. No one will ever hold a man to account. Holding men to account for abusing women is racist and imperialist and colonial and transphobic and even misogynistic, somehow. Isn't forgiveness in your nature, anyway? Aren't you a woman? Isn't this what you're for?

It's actively insanity inducing to be a survivor and a feminist right now because in the face of the sheer ubiquity of sexual assault and the lack of consequences for it, we're all being besieged by demands that we think of the rapist men, forgive the rapist men, cleanse the souls of the rapist men

and i'm sick to fucking death of finding out again and again and again that no one actually believes anything they say. no one actually sincerely cares, it's all rhetorical, it's all abusers and apologists learning therapy speak or learning "radical speak," no one means any of it

basically, i'm sick to fucking death of talking about rape. i'm sick of thinking about it. i'm sick of it being in the news every day. i'm sick of not being able to trust anyone. i'm sick of trying to build up bulwarks against it only to have bad actors slither in and abuse us with our own language

it makes it extremely painful & world-distorting when people flip at dizzying speed from performing outrage at the cornell 7 only being made to "write an essay," to "he wrote a statement that's not even an essay, isn't that enough to show we should forgive & restore him without the victim's input?"
