I don’t know if anyone needs to hear this but be careful sending your MS to anyone who doesn’t have a #WritingCommunity presence and responds to your #ABCPit offering #betareading. A lot of these “services” are people who will ask for money, run your whole MS through ChatGPT, and call it “feedback.”

1: Stemming from my own fear of dogs, they were never domesticated in my fantasy world.
2: At one point of doing research, I had 6 internet tabs saved for llamas alone.
3: I had a 15 page outline critiqued by a CP before I wrote even a single word of the first draft.

I would visit Van Kestella! The southernmost city in my world, it nestles into a fjord with street levels stacked up the mountainsides so that it resembles a massive coliseum. Huge mountains, glaciers, black sand, and clear skies for the southern lights to shine.

#Tropesunday I did not write a single trope into Starhunter, not intentionally. 🤔 I had to research lists of fiction tropes and the closest thing I’ve got is a wise old mentor, except she isn’t old, and she supports the MC right up to the end, as friends, without dying.

Mairi’s #characterflaw is being too independent. She’s not good at asking for or accepting help. Being the Starhunter comes with certain occupational hazards, and besides, other magic-bearers tend to be distracting to her senses.

I draw! Idk if it’s a hobby, but I love Legos and have slowly found the pieces for characters in one of my books! (Nevermind one of them is wearing a hoodie. The colors are right, not the style 😂)

For my MC, Mairi keeps a journal, because she travels alone often.

I love outlining, so when I go into a first draft, I’ve got a whole roadmap. I can just…write. But my favorite parts are the little epiphanies that crop up. The small details that surprise me but add so much to a story, but I have to discover them along the way.
