Americana kind of feels like two different bands vying for supremacy. The one that writes songs like the title track, Pay the Man, and The Kids aren’t Alright. And the one that writes joke songs like Why Don’t You Get a Job and She’s Got Issues.

Dunno if there were sellout accusations when Gavin Rossdale scored that unexpected pop hit in ‘08 but you can’t accuse him of letting anyone else write his lyrics. Take one look at em and you know it’s from the same…unique mind behind ‘Bulletproof Skin’ and ‘Everything Zen.’

Gwen Stefani’s solo debut is…interesting. Like the Harajuku Girls stuff is undeniably extremely embarrassing (What You Waiting For is the one track where the mere mention doesn’t completely take you out of the record) but the New Wave throwback tracks are all REALLY good.

I think people just in general have way too much access to each other now. Can you imagine the whiney-ass diatribes if early 90's Axl Rose had direct access to his critics back then. Get in the Ring was embarrassing enough.

Eros is excellent. I don’t know exactly what they planned to add or remove from it so I can’t say how complete it is but it certainly sounds pretty close to finished to me upon first listen.

Happy In Galoshes is a really good solo record. Very different from Scott Weiland’s stuff with STP and Velvet Revolver but still excellent.
