When you tell me your name/pronouns, that's what I'll call you. If you previously used a different name/pronoun, that's in the past. If your name/pronouns change in the future, I'll adjust immediately. I'd be quite annoyed to be called Ensign Picard. Respect is easy when we care.
If you’re avoiding activism because you’re afraid people in your life won’t like you anymore when you speak out for social justice, I have some terrible news about the people in your life.

If something in your life breaks because you've become better at protecting yourself, that broken thing didn't belong in your life in the first place.

It is a particularly unfair irony that when we persevere through our weakest moments, we are actually at our strongest, and yet all we feel is our weakness. We need others around us to remind us how strong we really are and that our weaknesses are not failings.

I don't put up with random people hurling nonsense at me and neither should you. Enforce your entirely valid boundaries at will. You are worth protecting.

Do not allow bigots to twist words of social justice empowerment against you or other vulnerable people. You are allowed to rebuke such attempts with all of your might and then walk away with determined, unabashed Pride.

When you come up with a clever retort to a terrible person too late, share it with a friend. This will help you save it in your mind should another situation to use it arise. Over time you'll accumulate a mighty store of scathing takedowns against those who require it.

You'll receive more assistance if you ask for it and are sometimes rejected than you will if you never ask at all.

You are enough. It is perfectly acceptable to be yourself just the way you are.

Always ensure you are being a good friend to others, but likewise ensure they are being good friends to you. You are allowed to walk away from social relationships that do not serve you well, and you absolutely should leave relationships that harm you.

Do not gaslight yourself to satisfy the insecurities of others.

If someone complains that you are "difficult," "stubborn," "too sensitive," or other unfriendly terms that indicate you've firmly defended your boundaries, celebrate those insults as badges of honour instead. I'm immensely proud of you for maintaining your boundaries. Well done.

Happy Star Trek Day! It's a very special one this year for the 60th. I sincerely hope you all have a wonderful day, empowered and inspired by the heart of this phenomenon that unites us throughout time and space. You are all magnificent and worthy of good things.

You get back precisely zero percent of the time that you waste trying to be someone other than your true self in order to please other people at your own expense.

It is entirely possible to be abundantly kind and generous while simultaneously not putting up with anyone's abusive nonsense.

Believe and heed the red flags people have openly, proudly displayed.

Be a thorn in the side of bigots. Maintain your values even when told to shelve them, blow whistles, and find others to loudly join your cause. Fight for social justice for yourself and others in ways that annoy oppressors.

It wasn't your fault that you were harmed. You should never have to apologise for your resulting trauma.
September 3, 2026 at 7:06 PM
You are worth good boundaries and good defences for them.

Leadership is doing what must be done, not regardless of consequences but by directing yourself and others towards desired goals while keeping your values in mind at all times.

Some say that you should not end a promising relationship simply because a person says something inappropriate early on. While it's true that grace may be given for social awkwardness, if that person shows you early red flags of bigotry or abuse, that is not a promising relationship at all.

Whenever necessary, feel free to borrow my voice in your mind to encourage you throughout all of your challenges. I am proud of you and I know you can get through all of it.

Whenever someone is unkind to you, do something kind for yourself to counteract it both in your own heart and mind and in the wider world beyond.

I refuse to lie to you and pretend that everything worth having is easily obtained. Sometimes you have to put in some effort. Not all effort will pay off. As you've heard me say before in regards to winning and losing, that is life. But I believe in you nonetheless.
