2025 changed my rhythm. I carried loss and chased joy. I traveled to find my light again. I honored my body and my voice. I became a woman who stands in her truth. I’m stepping into 2026 with clarity, softness, and room to breathe.
Becoming in a Year That Tested Me
2025 changed my rhythm. I carried loss. I chased joy. I traveled to find my light again. I honored my body. I honored my voice. I became a woman who stands in her truth. I am stepping into 2026 with clarity. I want a life that reflects who I am now. I want softness. I want room to breathe.

Juneteenth isn’t just history—it’s personal. My family’s roots in Galveston make this day hit different. Freedom came late, but we still celebrate it loud. ✊🏾💥 Read how Juneteenth became more than a holiday for me. #BornFreeish #Juneteenth #Galveston #BlackHistory
Born Free-ish ✊🏾
How my family history in Galveston made Juneteenth more than just a holiday Juneteenth Hits Different When I was a kid, the Fourth of July was my favorite holiday. Not because of the history, but because of the food, the fun, and the freedom to run around all day. We had big cookouts, loud music, and a house full of laughter.

Being the only Black woman on a team made me believe I had to be perfect to prove I belonged. But perfection was never the goal—growth was. Rule 51 from NCIS says, “Sometimes you’re wrong,” and learning to live by that changed everything about how I lead.

Womanism, Black Bodies, and the Right to Dream: What Chimamanda’s Dream Count Gets Right
The post reflects on how "Dream Count" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and "All the Black Girls Are Activists" by EbonyJanice Moore inspire self-exploration for Black women. It discusses womanism's emphasis on identity, autonomy, and rejecting societal expectations, particularly the pressure to become mothers, affirming that liberation is about claiming one's choices and dreams unapologetically.

The Gift of Not Pushing Through

The Gift of Not Pushing Through
Let me just say this up front: I did not want to sit down. But when you have bunion surgery and suddenly can't drive, can’t just “run a quick errand,” and need help doing the most basic things — like getting food, getting dressed, or getting anywhere — you have no choice but to slow all the way down. I thought I was ready for that.

Black excellence shouldn't mean burnout. I’m done shrinking, performing, and overworking just to feel worthy. I wrote about what excellence looks like when it’s rooted in faith, rest, and authenticity. Take a read.

Redefining Black Excellence: Embracing Authenticity
I used to think Black excellence meant overworking, overthinking, and constantly proving myself. But through faith and finding spaces where I could be fully seen, I’ve redefined success. Now, excellence means authenticity, rest, and showing up as me—locs, boundaries, and all.

Solo travel is freeing, empowering, and full of self-discovery. 🧳✨ In my latest blog post, I’m sharing why I love it, tips for staying safe, and how it’s taught me to embrace the unexpected with grace. #linkinbio #SoloTravel #GraceNotPerfection
Why I Love Traveling Solo: Embracing Freedom, Imperfection, and Self-Discovery
POV: me, in a bar in Savannah, GA, jamming on the dance floor by myself and having the time of my life Whenever I tell people I’m traveling alone, the response is often the same: “I could never do that!” or “I can’t believe you’re going by yourself.” For some, the idea of solo travel feels intimidating, even lonely. But for me, traveling solo has become one of my absolute favorite ways to see the world.

Today’s useless fact: if you’re old enough to remember black people’s loyalty to Sears, there’s a reason. Sears was one of the first department stores to allow black people to purchase on credit and treated us like our money mattered. So we rocked with them for generations. #themoreyouknow #blacksky
I am a wealth of useless facts. Ever wondered why residential doors open inward and commercial doors open outward? Inside hinges are more secure and better for homes. Outward opening doors are safer for crowds to escape in an emergency from a business. You’re welcome. 🤓 #themoreyouknow #uselessfacts

Recently went to an event where the point was to remain anonymous until the end (other than first names). I asked if I could put my club name on my name tag. Every woman in the group immediately understood what I meant. Most of the men were confused.
