Do human 'habit' tasks measure the same thing? In this study, we compared the most commonly used paradigms, "Outcome Devaluation" & "Response Remapping", under matched training + time pressure 🧠⌛

Does time pressure reveal habits? Divergent results from outcome devaluation and response remapping paradigms - Cognitive, Affective, & Behavioral Neuroscience
Habits are central to daily life but remain difficult to study in the lab. Outcome Devaluation is often considered a “gold standard” paradigm for habit measurement; yet human studies have produced mix...

The Social Computation and Representation Lab talk series is back tomorrow! And no better way to start the new academic year than by following @setayeshradkani.bsky.social 's talk as she weaves together two complementary strands of her investigations into social cognition.

New paper alert! In this paper we were interested to formally test some of the assumptions made by computational psychiatrists - assumptions about parameter recoverability, reliability and validity. www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Mood a bit dampened by a somewhat humiliating ‘random’ check in the process of entering the US but still very excited to present some of the work we’ve been doing at the Social Computation and Representation lab, starting at Computational Psychiatry in New Haven tomorrow!

Reminder, this is happening tomorrow!
Coming up next week at the SoCR lab talk series is @alimahmoodi.bsky.social, who will be discussing his recent thought-provoking perspective, which advocates for a computational view of neural mechanisms of social cognition (contra an anatomical one).

In a new paper, we show how people make inferences about this type of ambiguous feedback during learning.

We tend to interpret feedback in ways that confirm our pre-existing beliefs. Such confirmatory tendencies are often viewed as cognitive flaws, but mig…
