Alito is not the only Republican justice who has embraced this disturbing rhetoric in recent years. It is instructive to break down what they are saying: we shouldn't count all the votes, because some segment of the electorate would become angry that their preferred candidate didn't win.
i'm not over Alito saying we shouldn't count ballots that are mailed on or before Election Day but arrive shortly afterwards bc they can “radically flip” the “apparent outcome”

cannot stress enough that, until all ballots are counted, there's no outcome to flip!

Fox News complains that underage teenage girls aren’t getting pregnant enough:

“The problem is teens and young adults. From ages 15-19, the fertility rate is down 70% in the last 2 decades, which means we are telling people who are young not to have babies.”

Saw yet another TV story where a core cast person refuses to take down a huge villain because it would hurt one person they've come to care about. This is of course presented as the sympathetic choice to make: the person we've seen over the hundred thousand whose faces we never saw.

The food cart story's amusing, but there's a lot of text in "the president of the most powerful country in the world had to hide in a food cart to avoid the projected lethal power of a nation with 1/4 your population that you outspend 100 to 1 on the military and keep claiming you've defeated."

interesting to me that as the administration treats democratic-voting states like conquered or occupied territories, you don’t have pundits demanding the president respect “half the country”
NEW: In a stunning admission, the Trump administration admitted in court documents that it canceled billions in energy grants to states "based solely" on politics -- and whether that state was represented by Democrats and backed Harris in 2024.

If there's one thing Trump has usefully revealed it's that the gatekeepers in the media who supposedly had so much reverence for Support The Troops and Dead Soldiers etc when those things were being deployed to hurt Democrats were just liars and never cared about this even a little.
I would never presume to know how a Gold Star family feels or what they should say. However if I were in one today, I'd be absolutely ripshit with Trump.
