Putin is going to have to pick up the phone and call Trump about this one...

Pretty remarkable story: A Russian intelligence network involved in plots to finance terrorism and commit murder-for-hire — including here in the United States.

Russia is not behaving like a country looking for peace.

Recording week is funny.

Wednesday morning I usually think I have almost nothing to say.

By Wednesday night I’m desperately trying to cut an episode below an hour.

This is like watching Mike Tyson get poked and prodded by a ten-year-old.

When is NATO and the West going to finally respond?

If you want peace, you have to show strength. Not sit there passively while you get slapped and spit upon.

In case you missed it:

The situation in Yemen changed dramatically in a matter of days — and the Houthis’ rapid advance could have consequences far beyond Yemen.

I put together a quick breakdown of what happened, why it matters, and what to watch.

Some not-so-great news out of Yemen.

The Houthis have made a stunning advance along the Red Sea coast — threatening one of the world’s most important shipping routes.

I put together a quick update on what happened, why it happened so fast, and why it matters:

I know it has been a sad and somber day, but if you want to hear something that’s kind of inspiring, about a guy who saved thousands of people that day, listen to this week’s story of courage.

It’s about four mins long.

Starts at around 26:45. 👊❤️🙏

New look for The Stan R. Mitchell Show.

I’ve been working hard to make the show better — better conversations, sharper analysis, and hopefully a little more clarity in a world that seems determined to give us more outrage.

Figured the artwork deserved an upgrade, too.

What do you think? 👇

One of my favorite parts of this week’s show has nothing to do with politics.

It’s the story of Rick Rescorla.

After the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, he became convinced the towers would be attacked again. So he prepared his people relentlessly.

New episode is out this morning.

Iran is weaker than its threats — but stronger than the victory laps suggest.

Ukraine is still fighting a war the world is increasingly forgetting.

And I tell the remarkable story of Rick Rescorla, who helped save thousands of lives on 9/11.

Three things I'm seeing this week:

1. Iran is weaker than the tough talk, and stronger than the victory laps.

2. Ukraine still needs air defense more than another speech.

3. Most of us are more exhausted than informed.

I’m recording tonight in a few hrs.

What do you see? What am I missing?

Oil prices going up hurts Trump, but also we're the ones shooting oil tankers now, to force Iran to concede the freedom of navigation that already existed before we started the war.

The whole thing is spiraling in on itself.

Hitting those oil tankers HAS to hurt Iran badly. And surely they're already wobbly.

But that attack on our base in Jordan also shows Iran still has more offensive capability than Trump has been suggesting.

Jordan intercepted 18 of the 20 ballistic missiles, but it looked horrific.

It’s another distraction from actual problems: Iran, consumer prices, certain files, etc. It’s literally something new every week.

This is the perfect analogy for how I see the Trump presidency.

He floats the idea of renaming New Mexico on social media.

There’s just one problem: The president doesn’t have the authority to rename a state.

So what has actually been accomplished?

The suggestion, posted on social media, appeared to be the latest in the president’s efforts to alter geographic names.

And thank goodness for that.

Too many people in Congress have gone along with Trump and forsaken their responsibilities.
