@cityofburnaby.bsky.social Instead of banning activities with wheels at the Jack Crosby Sports Box because of damage to the lines, have you considered changing the paint you use for painting said lines? Plenty of options for wooden boards out there.

What an odd feeling: to be the only person cheering for the #SUI win on an otherwise empty concourse, just before the sea of #COL fans leave the stadium, their #FIFAWorldCup2026 hopes dashed. #AltTextTellsTheStory
Selfie with one of the larger screens on the concourse level of BC Place behind me. On the screen are a couple of Swiss national team players enjoying the win. Spectators from inside the lower bowl have begun filing out, hardly anyone wearing either team’s kit. My facial expression is part incredulous, part joy, my eyes have very little idea where the eye of the camera is, I am wearing my uniform ball cap, bright yellow-lime t-shirt, an orange multilingual circular pin badge, the band of my ID lanyard around my neck, and you can see the black strap of my bag on my left shoulder. Around my left ear you can see some of my brown hair has escaped the ball cap as it curls shell-like above the earlobe. A very warm day, my face is flushed, and I am feeling a tiny bit happy. Departing the grounds of Vancouver’s BC Place, the stadium used for all FIFA World Cup 2026 matches on a warm sunny day. I am crossing over what is usually Expo Boulevard via one of the pedestrian bridges, back towards the Volunteer Centre. Many people below, most of them in yellow Colombia jerseys or other shirts looking eastward. Few in clouds in the sky, but probably many clouds in the Colombia supporters’ hearts. They played a really good match, and no one likes losing on penalties. Also looking at Germany on that score. Winning on penalties doesn’t feel great either, but at least you’re still in the tournament.

Wow, heat exhaustion is no joke and I not only missed a day and a half of #WorldCup2026 footy, but I was also MIA for my #FIFAWorldCup vollie shift. Back now, ready to support the tourney (& #GER, #CAN, #BEL) and simply everyone who plays a great game - are we ready for Group E decision day? Ack!!!

With the caveat that I am not a popular YouTuber nor am I a conspiracy theorist, I would just like to say that I find it odd that my two least watched videos in the last 4 years - by a wide margin - are on the same topic: fossil fuel subsidies.

Good morning, world! #Spring has sprung in #Vancouver (BC), Canada.
In the foreground a little patch of what I think are lilies of the valley flowers, in an area where wood chips cover the ground. Towards the back right, another grouping of the same plant, with a smaller one even further into the background. This micro-clearing is semi-enclosed by lush green ferns. It’s 10am in the morning on the second-last day of February, 2026, where I also spotted budding cherry blossoms on trees around the neighbourhood.

Someone has sure already made this observation but the fact they can convert all those empty warehouses into prison camps means they could have converted them into housing, community centers, job training centers or, hell, libraries or schools all along. It’s always a matter of will not resources.

Our VERY fluffy Toby, our two-year-old male tabby, is playing with his brother from a different mother, who has managed to flip a box over on top of himself and is playing “Turtle”. Toby has approached the box from the right, crouching with his forepaws reaching under the box, with his hindquarters up and arched. “Downward Cat”, if you will. The box is right up against the back our IKEA Poang chair and is more or less braced against pressure from that direction.

Black and white cat, curled up on a grey plush blanket that is over my uncrossed legs, his shoulder and upper body being supported by my right heel, who actually fell asleep before he had finished cleaning his left foreleg. There’s a little fluff of cardboard stuck to his bottle-brush of a tail. He didn’t get that far in his cleaning.

The fact that four hostile drones tried to hit Zelenskyy’s plane & it’s barely a blip in the news cycle should terrify everyone. We’ve been dragged so deep into the chaos era that an attempted strike on a world leader doesn’t even break through. When this becomes normal, the world is in real danger.
