"This election is about the threat of trans kids" is the worst possible messaging for Dems yet so many candidates are leaning into it. No voter will flip R->D over it. Low-info voters read this as "you're focused on bullshit that doesn't affect me" while the base reads this as "you're an asshole."

Candidates need to be much more straightforward than this: “You know republicans keep getting convicted of child sexual abuse. Now my opponent is making up an excuse to look in your kid’s pants. I won’t let them.”
I think this is something candidates should lampshade relentlessly: “Why does my opponent want to talk constantly about five trans kids playing volleyball and some Twitch streamer in LA? Is that stuff really important to your daily life? If it’s not, why are they trying to make you feel like it is?”
That is basically the Republican Party platform for the midterms. What else are they going to campaign on? Corruption, new wars and higher prices?

Is this just business as usual in politics? No. Approval rates of federal disaster aid requests were about the same regardless of the state and did not vary much with the party of the President. This graph powerfully conveys the scale of the partisan discrimination now.
