Hi all. Here’s a bit of an introduction to who I am.
I’m an English professor teaching and advising students pursuing degrees in secondary English Education. I taught English for grades 8-12 for six years before making the jump to higher ed. I’ve been in this position for four years.

Beloved, I was raised by a single mom and my grandma (whose education stopped at grade 8). They still parented me.
If your child isn’t potty trained by second grade, you’re a bad parent.

One of my education classes sat in on high school History and English classes today, and it was a great experience. Getting to watch my own students dip their toes into teaching is one of my favorite parts of the job.

To raise exceptional sons you need to be exceptional parents. In my 20+ years of teaching the good parents don’t blame others for their son’s mistakes. Kid isn’t doing well in school? It’s their son’s mistake. They get in trouble? They hold their son accountable. But it’s on parents to change, too.
