The weird sad thing about 9/11 is that they won. We became more like places like Iran and Saudi Arabia. More misogynistic, more in love with extreme hardline theocratic government, more homophobic. The only difference is the religion it's all framed in.

America, where freedom for all, equal protection under the law and a government that cares about people is considered wildly extremist but wanting to establish an absolutely authoritarian Christian-theocratic ethnostate is considered a perfectly acceptable mainstream viewpoint.

Those that attack the undocumented drool over the possibility of stripping citizenship from people that have views they don’t agree with. Intolerance knows no bounds and political movements that are centered on intolerance can only sustain themselves by targeting ever larger groups of people.
A lovely reminder that the people that are motivated by the desire to exclude groups they find objectionable from society are unable to restrain themselves, each target is just the start on a crazy train of exclusion.

See, the problem is that cyclosporiasis and the measles were not included in the list of Trump's enemies when it was decided that punishing those enemies was the only legitimate purpose of the government. Therefore we have no way to get either under control.

Fascism is a disease that spreads from country to country. Every fascist country creates refugees, people who aren't welcome in these homogeneous ethnostates. Those people have to go somewhere and wherever they go responds to the influx by going fascist itself. The future is hopelessly fascist.

My daughter came out as trans in high school. She never used the school bathroom. She’s almost 30 now and is too afraid to use public restrooms. In some states, using the women’s room risks arrest, but using the men’s room risks assault. She has bile acid issues, so she avoids going out. It’s sad.
