As Autism awareness increases, there is an odd bit of educational history I will share.
"Gifted" classes were long used as repositories for learners on the spectrum. Which is not to say they were not gifted--they were.
Educators were simply not equipped for their styles of learning. 1/2

Libraries are reporting record summer usage. People need spaces where attention isn’t monetized. In a year defined by political volatility, the library remains one of the few institutions that still treats citizens as thinkers.
