Viktor possessed a single photo of his parents, from their wedding day, one of the few items he’d collected from their home in the undercity after his mother’s death. He showed it to Jayce once, years ago, when they had been drinking and he was in a sentimental mood. Jayce remembered thinking that Viktor looked a great deal like his mother. Almost without meaning to, Jayce imagined their daughter knowing Viktor’s face only from old Academy photos and newspaper clippings from the early days of Hextech: serious and unsmiling, not the way he was with Alexandra. “Right. We can…” Jayce’s heart did a slow, painful somersault. “We can take more pictures.”
