If you are a graduate student in the humanities (construed as broadly as possible), what is the MOST EXCITING book published in the last five years to you?

Please repost if you’re not a graduate student!

Sept. is a hard month. My mother died 40 years ago very suddenly and far too young. My Dad became ill 24 yrs. later in Sept. and died in 3 months. When 9/11 hit, I was living in Albany, NY. So tonight, the return of #dixpourcent #callmyagent was a much needed gift. Merci, #netflix merci.

You know who actually did show up at Ground Zero? Canadian emergency rescue crews.

His lies about 9/11 are a desecration to the memory of everyone who perished on that day and to all of the first responders and ordinary citizens who risked their lives to save others.
There have been so many impeachable offenses, but lying about how you were a hero on a day that 2,753 people died in NYC in the 9/11 disaster—when you were on the other side of town, safely calling local media to brag about how you now had the tallest downtown building—is such a despicable one

Dolly Parton...

-Gifted millions of free books to kids
-Ensured musicians she worked with got union benefits
-Helped fund medical research, including the COVID vaccine
-Donated millions to communities hit by natural disasters
-Quietly funded high school band programs

We lost an incredible person.

Aw man, not Dolly. I’m not a country music fan, but I really respected her humanitarian work, including her doing so much for literacy initiatives. She was one of the good ones. #dollyparton

I know this reaction can be applied to so many news stories these days, but at first glance I honestly did think this was a headline from The Onion.
President Trump accused vandals of damaging the grass on the National Mall between the Washington Monument and World War II Memorial — the same area he placed a large stage to speak to crowds on the Fourth of July.
Trump blames vandals for dead grass on lawn where he held Fourth of July event
Similarly damaged grass was seen at the White House Ellipse and South Lawn after the UFC Freedom 250 events this summer.

I’ve seen a couple people mention watching the Marx Brothers with their fathers. My Dad and I bonded over these films when I was a teen. He has been gone 16 years, but I still hear his laugh and feel his presence when I watch the films today. #TCMParty #AnimalCrackers

I had a housemate from Fredonia, NY decades ago. Granted, it was Fredonia, not Freedonia, but years later when I was watching Duck Soup with some friends, no one believed me when I said there was a real place called Fredonia. #tcmparty #DuckSoup

I spent a lot of time on the heath back in the 90s. This is absolutely heartbreaking, as are the many other wildfires and other ecological disasters that are currently ongoing. We have been terrible stewards of this beautiful planet.
This week, a wildfire has torn through Dunwich Heath in Suffolk, leaving the entire nature reserve devastated.

An area of around 210 football pitches has been affected with rare habitats and wildlife lost in a matter of hours.
