One of the reasons why Mamdani, to take one example, is considered such an effective politician is because he constantly promotes the work his administration is doing. Biden didn’t need to go fill the 200,000th pothole in DC, but there was very little promotion on his biggest legislative gains
A failure in 2022 (i.e. during the Biden admin) people are bizarrely reluctant to talk about is that the Biden administration did an unforgivably bad job of promoting its achievements and creating a compelling narrative that reflected an improving economy reality after the COVID-19 recovery started.

I still have the queasy feeling Trump is going to try some desperate stunt in the closing weeks of campaign season that is self evidently ludicrous, but large swaths of the press will treat seriously. I don't think it will work, but it will nevertheless drive us nuts to watch unfold.
Really feels like Iran turning the screws and pushing gas to, say, $5-6 a gallon puts us in pretty uncharted waters, politically. So far the global oil infrastructure has proven to be remarkably resilient so maybe that doesn't happen, but doesn't look great!
