Politicians normally set the stage for big policy changes in an election platform that people can debate. They release studies, point to reports highlighting what they wanted to do, and why. That’s how you get democratic buy-in and avoid unwanted surprises. We get none of that from Carney.

The details matter. We haven’t spent nearly enough time evaluating Carney’s strategies and absolutely no time considering alternatives. Instead, Canadians are left on the sidelines, guessing at what, exactly, Carney is doing, treated as spectators, not participants, in the country’s fate.
