Developmental biologist, interested in how corals and algae develop and adapt their symbiosis.
Pinned
Corals internalise algae into their cells to form a symbiosis that underpins reef ecosystems. How does the host integrate symbionts into its body plan?

Happy to share our preprint: Symbiont spatial organisation is dynamically regulated within cnidarian host tissues. doi.org/10.64898/202...

A coral the size of half a soccer field?! 👀🪸

This 111-meter-long giant was just discovered on the Great Barrier Reef, and there’s a lot more behind this finding than meets the eye.

To probe gene-scale chromatin physics, we built 96-mer (20 kb) arrays with defined histone marks. Combining single-molecule tracking, AFM imaging, and developing in vitro Hi-C, we saw how specific modifications dictate chromatin structure and dynamics. www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...
Gene-scale in vitro reconstitution reveals histone acetylation directly controls chromatin architecture
Reconstituting 20-kb chromatin shows that tuning acetylation alone reshapes its folding, dynamics, and contact domain formation.

I wrote something on developmental biology and disability and put it up on the node last night:

I've been nervous to share because some of it veers a bit personal but they are thoughts that won't stay quiet. Would love to know what people think about it!
