Great conversation today with Dorit Visbeck-Liebers, president of the German Ornithologists' Society, about examining the society’s Nazi past and collaboration. This builds on my 2018 paper on former president Günther Niethammer, an SS guard at Auschwitz who studied birds there

Yesterday and today, more Stolpersteine / stumbling blocs were laid in Dresden to commemorate victims of Nazi persecution. I initiated having this art and memorial project there in 2008; in 2009, the first five blocs were installed. And yesterday marked the 400th! Grateful this work continues!
