I'm going to say it loud for the people in the back. Voice actors are artists and replacing them with Gen AI is unethical and immoral. This is different than a screen reader/accessibility tool which isn't giving a "performance." This is a machine trying to imitate human emotion and artistry.

I hate the *friction* that edutech has brought into our lives. The endless logins that need to be reset. Explaining the excited sequence of buttons required because Microsoft is the least-user-friendly garbage ever. It takes up so much of my time and energy I could spend actually teaching.

Back to school tomorrow. I'm excited to see my lovely colleagues, and meet my students on Thurs. Yet … they say it should get easier every year, but honestly, it kind of gets harder? I feel myself wearing down, breaking down, layer by layer, each year. One day nothing will be left.

AI tech bros want you to believe AI and related tech will replace human labour (somehow). But here we are in 2026, and humans still pick our fruit and veg and stitch our sneakers. Humans still replace outlets and plumb sinks. Machines are wonderful, but society is still people-powered.
