"Tuesday is the week’s structural load-bearing wall; it is too far from the optimism of Monday to offer energy, and too far from the release of Friday to offer hope."
Some say a great light has gone out of the world today. I prefer to think it has embedded itself in millions of hearts and lives.

Rest in peace, Songmistress Dolly Parton.

The FTC just put out a proposal requiring companies to disclose when they're using your personal data (location, browsing history, spending habits) to set you a personalized price - quietly charging different people different amounts based on what an algorithm thinks they'll tolerate.

Lake Mead and Lake Powell - the two biggest reservoirs in the country - just hit their lowest combined level since before Powell existed, in 1957. A researcher studying the collapse described it as a bank account: the income dropped for decades and nobody adjusted the spending.

Giving away 100 Kindle copies of my novel Brunhild's Passover Eve on Goodreads.

A Jewish community isolated on a Baltic island for 3,000 years - no rabbi, no Torah scroll, just the shape of the prayers and the direction they always faced.

Writing Ben's shift today - he flags a journalist's messages, then his brother texts about dinner and he catches himself doing the same math on that too. Didn't plan the line "when did I start thinking of everyone as data points," it just came out of the scene.

The opening pages of my book put a woman in a Cox's Bazar evacuation center, watching water that won't go back out. This week, real floods hit that same district - over five million people affected. I don't love being right about the wrong things.

Went back to the opening of The In-Between this morning. Eran watches two strangers at a cafe - a man leaning in, a woman's feet already pointed toward the door. "The face is a performance. The body is a draft. The feet are the edit they haven't made yet." Still my favorite line in that book.

Pulling LYDIA EVER AFTER back out tonight. There's a clock in it that runs five minutes slow - Lydia keeps it that way on purpose, says it gives them extra time. Joe thinks she's just being sentimental about it. By the end he's the one who understands what those five minutes are actually for.

A book about a five-year window owes readers an update before the five years are up. The 2nd edition of How to Save the World in 5 Years adds an afterword: what's happened since publication - climate finance wins, the Sahel's worsening reality, and the real people who never waited for permission.

THE IN-BETWEEN is out - a novella about a man who's spent his life reading other people's relationships for a living and never his own.

The Strait of Hormuz is in the news again, and I keep circling DURING, AFTER - my novel set forty years after a Middle East conflict ends, not in reckoning but in exhaustion. Its heart is a classroom where students get official language that "said nothing false and explained nothing true."

A line from Brunhild's Passover Eve I still think about: an island that's kept the same rhythm for three thousand years, one morning where the rhythm quietly starts to break. "The grammar carried a new word."
Six words doing the whole book's work.

He lost his job in October. By January he was seeing couples. He had no credentials, no training, no license. He had a dog named Dina and nineteen years of paying attention.

The question that started this novel:

What would a Jewish community look like if it had been completely isolated for three thousand years? Not persecuted. Not assimilated. Just - separate. Practicing in silence on a cold island, preserving what it could, losing what it couldn't.

The massive wave of AI-generated GTA 6 early-access scams works because they target a core feature of human psychology: our vulnerability to pattern-matching.

When polished AI visuals create scarcity, our predictive minds override our suspicion.

Humans are prediction machines that refuse to read their own output.
That's why you're scared of AI. It doesn't have that problem.

Salt herring instead of shank bone. Seaweed instead of parsley. Barley flatbread with juniper instead of matzah. Lingonberry and horseradish instead of charoset.

Sixty years of marriage. A dementia diagnosis. And an absolutely terrible AI romance novel that somehow becomes the key to everything.

"Lydia Ever After" asks the question no love story prepares you for: when the day comes that she doesn't remember your name - will you still choose her?
