I was born & raised in Manhattan; its skyline was my home. I first saw the twin holes in the sky months after 9/11 from a window of the Liberty Science Center in NJ. The negative space where the towers had been was as visible to me as any view I've ever seen. I couldn't choke back the sobs.

For Star Trek's 60th, a repost of something I wrote for the 50th: Remembering my Spock, a beloved friend who didn't make it this far.
Tim Curry in a corset and fishnets caused a 1970s earthquake that reshaped our culture in ways still playing out today. I saw Rocky Horror maybe a dozen times back then, enough to know we were embracing something transgressive that would leave its mark. TC melted our brains. RIP.

I get that actors hate being conflated with characters but it's only natural. Humans are great at recognizing faces and forming long-term associations. There's a big advantage to knowing that the guy who tried to kill you yesterday might try again today. Don't blame fans, blame evolution.

It doesn't surprise me to read that the cancellation of Hawaii 5-0 had a lot to do with Alex O'Loughlin being unable to continue. I'm only on season 8 and you can already tell the poor guy looks exhausted.
