Try to remember, they’re locked in here with us. Bring back Connolly’s Citizen Army.
Richard Sherman, I love you, but the last time I saw that vest on tv, Bat Masterson was in it. unless you’re opening for Mumford and Sons, probably time to put it in the Goodwill pile with Timberlake’s fedora.

Jim Nantz just teased the VMAs with Madonna and “jaw-dropping acts“ which I assume is a cute way of saying the other elderly people will have dentures fall out.

Susan Collins's bet, clearly, is that there are a non-trivial number of Dem/Indy voters who have been programmed for so long by the Maine press to believe she's pro-choice that it doesn't matter what she says or does. They simply won't believe otherwise.

That can't be allowed to stand. #MEpolitics
Video: Susan Collins on her Brett Kavanaugh vote (that led to Roe v. Wade being overturned): "Thank you. It's something that still comes up. He's qualified. And I don't, as I've said, I don't regret that vote." #mesen #mepolitics

I just proposed to my department head that "QA for AI" may be best done by an "arsonist fireman" who creates problems and then, given no dev team has cycles to spare, fixes the problems.

While he said he thought that made sense, he did not respond to my request for a job title change.

@jessshulman.bsky.social just wanted to say your cryptic crossweird entry has to be one of the best-clued puzzles I’ve ever done. Thank you so much.

The real takeaway for me from this Pats game: looking at the visitors sideline (tv perspective), there is a bright spot of red around the right-hand 31 yard line which must be Ed Sheeran buried up to his hair line.

You call it a “business decision”; Aaron Rodgers calls it a ”darkness retreat”. @miketanier.bsky.social

Learned a lesson about calling game over, but we now have a three-way tie:

1 squirrel escaped
1 killed by dog
1 so tired it let me pick it up and put it outside

Am I rubbing that in the pets’ faces? Reader, you know I am.

Made the mistake of going downstairs to play video games. Two dogs, two cats. currently down 1-2 vs the “chipmunks” (technically red squirrels) and I am the one of us who knows exactly where your man is. I keep offering him free passage but I think he may just feel safe among these clowns.

One of, if not my favorite, video game moments of all time, was getting spun by a cop in Vice City just as the sun was coming up and Night Ranger’s Sister Christian was blaring in my car radio at like 2am in real life as I hit reverse and made it into a Pay and Spray. Up there with beating Tyson.
I can't explain the joy of getting in your stolen virtual car, driving to a mock-up of your real-life neighborhood, and running over as many people as possible.

Nothing will ever match that thrill.

I dunno if it’s hubris or some curse or what, but the end of the Chipmunk Crisis was actually like a four hour interregnum. So now it’s Chip, Dale and one even dumber than Dale.

Not to pile on, but at this point I have Brennan Johnson with -3 goals for Everton *in this game*. And there are 25+ minutes to go.

Commentator misstated "set piece" as "set piss" but this being Everton, it turned out prescient.

All uphill from here: neighbor started shooting off fireworks at 5:30am. Not unusual for NH but went on so long I picked up my phone to see if it announced any beloved world leaders had popped their clogs. No such luck.

In case anyone was on tenterhooks, our Chipmunk Crisis ended somewhere around hour 40 in a 1-1 draw. One dude slipped out the door, one dude slipped off this mortal coil.

Day 3 of The Chipmunk Crisis. I now accept I am fully alone. The big dog hunts rodents like drunks look for their keys.

I was going to congratulate the chipmunk that survived 18 hours and two floors of our house having been caught by three different animals and yet I managed to shepherd out the door while one of the dogs and one of the cats continued to look for him. Except: apparently there were two of them.

I am at my dad’s for a visit and it is an inspiration to see someone already in the Hall of Fame still innovating about how to make more noise in the morning when you have a houseguest. He did something with baking sheets this morning that was entirely new to me.
