It’s been quite the few days, half way through the first lambing group. Currently in a lull and wanting to find a cozy place for a bit like these littles have nestled into.

Our official start to 2026 lambing begins. Matilda with 2 ewe lambs, if we add that to the early ‘newbies,’ girls are at 7 and boys are 2. But we still have ~37 left to lamb.

Finally have the pump reseal for the Mannyhindra. Same parts as is for the old truck, but works in the tractor. Could have had it a week ago if Canada Post wasn’t terrible, came from Burnaby to Kamloops, then CP sent it to the lower mainland to sort for delivery back to Kamloops. Why?

Goodbye to Hobbs

Knew this was gonna be hard when getting around to the editing of the day we lost Hobbs. Not much of a vlog, just a bit of the day we lost Hobbs and sharing some of our time with him.

Minor crisis averted. And chores got finished while it was still daylight after the unexpected hour of repairs in the drive. Don’t worry bout the oil on the ground, did dig it up after chores and put in contaminated materials bin. Also saved me from taking the truck to town for parts

Visitors from the other day. We have top quality feed for the sheep and horses and with the weird weather they must know it.

Aftermath of the March blizzard. Had to drive from cattle herding practice in Barrier to home in it. We now have more snow in March than October, November, December, January and February combined. Still need 2.5 more feet to be at an average level.

Stitches out, and a bigger area to see how the transition to the play pen will go for the duo. Eddie still would rather a bottle than drink from mom, but she is producing enough milk for him to be on the chubby side of things. Part 1/2

February 18 2026. The latest lamb needed a bit extra care till he and mom got settled in. A bit of a tough birth, and momma didn’t have quite the greatest milk let down for a few days. His birth was the last long video.

It’s been quite the month, let’s pick this up where the last vlogs ended and try to catch up on the weeks of stuff that’s put editing on the back burner. Losing Hobbs was a reminder to keep the videos going to share the lives that make this place worth it all

Today we lost Hobbs. Our special little dude, born on the 20th of December 2019. He was disabled and we knew time with him was always going to be short, he wasn’t a sheep, he was a sheeple. Always wanted to leave the safety of the flock to follow us around and be where people stuff was happening.

First time Mya gets to work cows. Part 1 of 3
March 10, 2026 at 3:11 AM
9 days post ‘zipper install’ and mom and Eddie are going minty. We still supplement a bottle in the morning and before bed to make sure he’s 100%. In the next week stitches should be out and progress towards them moving into the playpen.

Feb 15 2026, the latest lambs were definitely ready for the bigger play pen. Carl in the background watching his babies bounce.

The acrobatic lamb. She is always riding a mom or auntie and has started to teach the siblings.

Part 1 of trying to explain in a short how we are working on implementing Jake the Kangal LDG into how we need our operations to run. The only real thing he needs to learn is that Mya can work sheep, the rest of the training is getting the sheep used to a ‘flock dog’

One of these days I swear I’m gonna get a video done for the day I want to publish it. This was supposed to be for Wednesday, now I’m in a crunch to try and edit down all the lambing footage for a Sunday video.

Newly arrived, but we’ve been watching this ewe very closely since last night. Active labor stated at 0700 this morning, but within 10 minutes knew something was wrong. Baby was breech, or backwards. Successfully pulled the little girl and is doing well now. Definitely 1 more, maybe 2 still in momma
February 13, 2026 at 3:59 PM
A nervous-Nellie. Took longer to get her calmed and caught to help pull the lamb that was in a position she was not going to come out without assistance. All is well now, moms and babies all have a nice private area to bond.

The first of the ‘newbies’ lambed early this morning. Only 4 more ewes in this group, the main 38 ewes are due in April.
February 11, 2026 at 5:34 PM
The ‘spicy boys’ were very cheeky for this afternoons herding training, Mya is starting to get a lot of confidence in having to deal with the little rebels and their desire to fight her.
February 11, 2026 at 3:41 AM
Mya and Jake’s 1st meeting. Important our LGD and herd dog get along incase of emergency flock evacuation off pasture (predator or natural disaster) and we can’t quickly pull the LGD off for Mya to work.

Jake, the newest aspiring member of our ‘sheep-defense-force.’ He’s fitting in pretty good so far, but a lot more work ahead to make sure everything goes 100%.
