Originally, the £72m was just a Reform ruse, so that they can forevermore cry ‘foul’, that it’s all an ‘establishment stitch-up’ by the ‘uniparty’, to stop Reform being able to ‘level the playing pitch’.

That the £72m also served as a distraction to the Channel 4 sting was merely an added bonus.

When @louisehaighmp.bsky.social says that “the Israeli people are not responsible for the actions of their government”, one can therefore only conclude that the UK Government now considers Israel to be a rogue state?

Now that Piddington has ‘declared independence’ are its residents now ‘illegal immigrants’ in the UK?

If "do the right thing" vs "pile of money" is an impossible position for you, you are an evil person. It really is that simple.
Lisa Nandy siding with Ed Sheeran when all his support bands walk out against censorship of Gaza on his tour - Nandy is a sort of Ed Sheeran of politics, wants a veneer of credibility but thinks "don't protest, don't speak out, shut up and take the cash" www.independent.co.uk/bulletin/new...

@vicderbyshire.bsky.social telling a woman who is being othered by her racist neighbours that they're not actually racist.

Jesus. We don't have a single journalist with a spine.
Very nice to hear a sane voice from Piddington. Serious respect to this woman, who is apparently already being othered by more bigoted villagers.

Very funny that Ed Sheeran, who was so keen to co-opt and monetise Irish culture, failed to take into account how ingrained support for Palestine is in a country that has suffered from famine and genocide from its overbearing neighbour (where he was born and raised)
Irish acts Aaron Rowe and Beoga, and Finneas have said that they would withdraw from Ed Sheeran’s tour. apnews.com/article/ed-s...

@mehdirhasan.bsky.social interviewed JD Vance in 2016. Back then, Vance told Mehdi himself that Trump's rhetoric was putting his Muslim friends at risk. And now he wants to complain about being called racist? What a transformation.

I also find the framing in the media of “are you pro-Israel or pro-Palestine” infuriating and contributing to polarisation

I’m pro humanity, I’m pro peace - I’m pro Palestinian life, I’m pro Israeli life, I’m pro preserving human life

This isn’t a game, this is people’s lives

Very interesting from @theguardian.com and for those good journalists at The Telegraph a moment to decide what the job of reporting is supposed to be. Or not.
NEW: Reform again accused of leaking the Telegraph a story it had been approached about by another outlet.

This “spoiler” tactic is causing concerns among some at the Tel.

Insiders say this isn’t fair - reporters didn’t know it was a spoiler.

😬. I feel like the Venn Diagram of people who were forced to engage in beastility and are applying to join the FBI must be one person for them to raise this much fuss (forced doing some seriously heavy lifting here)
Kash Patel: "Applicants who have engaged in beastiliaty means they were victims of beastility because they were forced to do so. At this FBI we are not going to criminalize and prevent victims from serving."
