An open note
to the stranger who noted
that it’s kind of weird
that I care so much
about measles in Pennsylvania
and about Ebola in Congo
when I am not in either place:
I am very sorry to hear
that you seem to believe
that it’s kind of weird
to care about other people.

When you hear people discussing
the flooding in Nepal,
or the power outages in Gary,
or any of the other
disasters in this moment,
by saying that these
are what the future looks like,
calmly but firmly remind them:
that these disasters
are what the present looks like.

Yikes. This is even crazier when you realize the boulder is at roof level.
Have seen several versions of this video floating around. Can't find an original source yet, but if this is legit umm... going to need some sedimentologists in the chat 🧪⚒️

Self-censorship, institutional censorship, and good old fashioned govt censorship. Good times.
This data on self-censorship among U.S. academic scientists and engineers -- not even humanities people, this is STEM -- is so disturbing.

By far the best correlation since pirates and global average temperatures.
This is from 2012. You make it sound like everyone has gone back to the area around it. They have not. It is like Chernobyl, which cause all sorts of weird shit across Europe as well (think Hentai porn consumption in Sweden).

Require that Congress ensure that the executive branch operate as it has ordered.

Instead of anything like this.

And remove the Trump appointees who keep trying to steal everything they can.

So bottom line: if you drink water from a treatment facility built in last 50 years, if you drive on roads or bridges that need repair, if you live in a flood zone, getting any Fed grant to support this stuff will now depend on your officials’ fealty to the crown.

When suggested as a response
to airborne illnesses
the recommendation
to “wash your hands”
is often seen as insufficient,
but cyclospora
is not an airborne illness,
so in this case
please: wash your hands,
and wash your produce,
and then wash your hands again.
