As one leftist account said, Corbyn's real sin was to treat Muslims and foreigners as human beings, which the Sensibles treated as anti-white and anti-Jewish bigotry.
One of the skeleton keys to the last twenty years is understanding that western liberals absolutely, fundamentally view other races as inferior and savage, but genuinely believe that some measure of liberalism can civilise the savage races, if they behave themselves.

Purity test is shorthand for “you care about the people I have already decided are expendable.”
I hate the dismissive way politics-heads talk about lefties having “purity tests” as an insult. It’s such a sneer.
But looked at another way - what it really means is that they have DIFFERENT purity tests.

Means testing is just wedge used to turn the obviously outrageous "should we have this social net at all" into "who deserves this social net?". Every edge case is then used as an argument to diminish provision until it's gone. Cynically using people's sense of fairness to fuck everyone over.
