In one of his few honest remarks, Mike Johnson notes that "In God We Trust" was adopted as a political rebuke to the communist USSR. Other Christian nationalist like to pretend it was The Founders' motto. But the US is not a theocracy and predates The Communist Manifesto by 72 years.
