The Galápagos Hawk is found on—you guessed it—the Galápagos Islands. But if it looks familiar, recent genetic research suggests it's a "sister taxa" to the Swainson's Hawk, closely resembling its dark morph.

The Laughing Falcon earned its name for good reason—it actually sounds like it's laughing! Found from Mexico to northern Argentina, this distinctive Neotropical raptor is known for its loud "wah ha ha" call around dawn and dusk.

At just 18–21 cm tall, the African Pygmy-falcon holds the title of Africa's smallest raptor. What it lacks in size, it makes up for in boldness. Rather than building its own nest, it moves directly into a chamber of a large weaver bird nest.

During Forest Owlet surveys in Melghat Tiger Reserve, a WRCS India team supported by TPF documented a lone wolf associating with a pack of dholes on three occasions without aggression—the first documented association of its kind in the reserve. https://bit.ly/4oeObWC

The Madagascar Fish-eagle is a Critically Endangered species found only on the west coast and lowlands of Madagascar. TPF has worked with this species since 1991, partnering with community associations to monitor populations and protect habitat.

The White-necked Hawk is a poorly studied raptor found only in Brazil's Atlantic Forest. Scientists still don't know basic details about its nesting habits—where it builds its nest, how many eggs it lays, or how long its young stay in the nest before fledging.

The Cuban Pygmy-owl, found only in Cuba, is the island's most common owl. It's active day and night, and sports false "eye spots" on the back of its neck to make predators think twice before making a move.
