The only Fit4Mom instructor I like is the one who is also GenX, who plays 90’s hip-hop, all of the rest of them play T-Swift.

Great writing
I bounced the idea for this essay off of my husband while we were making dinner one night. “I don’t know that Mom Rock is really a thing,” he said. “What do moms even listen to? Taylor Swift?” I don’t think he was very prepared for my gleefulness as he fell into my trap.

I find myself wishing [for the] answer of a UTI. If it’s a UTI, then I did the right thing by bringing him in. If it’s a UTI, we’ll get an antibiotic and go home. He’ll feel better by the end of the day, & I was not an overreacting flake who rushed her baby to the emergency room for an upset tummy.

“To be a mom, I rearranged my life. At first, I had to concentrate on her with every fiber of my being, protect her at all cost. Now she needs to pull away, which she does—a little bit more each day. I have to learn how to focus elsewhere more and more. It feels like a trick.”
I No Longer Laugh at Amy Poehler's “Cool Mom” Character In Mean Girls. Because, Now That I’m a Mom of a Teen Girl, I Basically Am Her.
The uncool “cool mom” deserves some understanding, not our scornful laugh.

I've been a reader of the Pom for a while so it was a pleasure to be able to write for them about my experience of motherhood and picking your battles.

At a bonfire with a new mom and a pregnant first time mom last night, and the new mom mentions how difficult she’s finding it to adjust to life with a baby who “can’t be put down”. I’m nodding along when the pregnant gal interjects - “but wait - *why* can’t you put him down??”

This is a vulnerable one 🩷 Thanks so much to @amycolleen.bsky.social for her guidance in editing and @thepom.bsky.social for publishing another one of these from me. Writing them feels like turning my brain inside out like a purse, shaking it to get out every last crumb (in a good way!)

Person 1: We should not normalize women feeling like they need to use fillers and injections to feel good about themselves

Person 2 (has Botox): Wowwwww so now we’re telling women what to do with their bodies? I thought you liked feminism
