Three updates to Pixelfed in the past two days, but still no fix for the site failing to incorporate any references or likes from Mastodon (or anything else that uses Activity Pub). Really disappointing.

Cheboygan Brewing

Followup to yesterday’s post showing Hive North. This is Cheboygan Brewing, separated from Hive North by a side street, with a balcony full of people presumably drinking beer. I hope a few found themselves next door later. Leica R4, Kodak Pro Image 100, ECN-2 dev.

More acid-drenched Ektar. This is perhaps not as obviously weird as the pentaptych I posted yesterday, but that truck looks pretty solarized to me, and the reflections in the windows are kind of odd. Pentax 17, Kodak Ektar 100, ECN-2 development.

I’m just waiting for Ed Sheeran’s announcement that he’s pulling out of his own tour. I mean, there’s not much left of it, right?
wow. with this announcement, all of ed sheeran's openers for this tour have pulled out:
Lukas Graham, another support act on Ed Sheeran’s tour, also now withdrawing from the tour.

A modest proposal. The current people building the future are fucking it up. We want some better people to build the future. Perhaps even a future not built by pedophiles and oligarchs and fans of autocracy.

As an American citizen, I want all that money back. Confiscate every goddamned penny.
A really useful graphic on how much Trump has monetized the presidency.

Reconstruct it when he’s gone using the rubble from the ballroom we’ll be demolishing when he leaves.

It has been a while since I’ve shot anything on Ektar. I loaded a roll in my Pentax 17 and was rewarded with a psychedelic nightmare with purple clouds and solarized greens. I will start thinking of Ektar along the lines of Turquoise or Azure Switch. Dev in ECN-2.

It’s pictures.

Two rolls through the Pentax 17, both Kodak, one of Ektar 100 shot entirely at the music festival we were at over Labor Day, the other Pro Image 100, half shot that day and half since.

Broad Street Diner

I usually shoot this place head on, but this is from the side and gives a different look. This is a classic diner, and gets all kind of awards. The food is really good. Pentax MZ-5 (Square), Santa Color 100, ECN-2 development.

Good thread about the AI 'going rogue' stories which is a lot more realistic about what really happened – in short, the people were lazy and made stupid mistakes. The AI didn't 'go rogue' at all.
I did a somewhat deep dive into the recent OpenAI and Anthropic "hacks" for an upcoming interview.

IMO, the AI companies are better off running with the "rogue AI" story because the real story is actually pretty embarrassing.

Like making your Wi-Fi password "wifi" embarrassing. 🧵

Your regular reminder: If the Russians stop fighting, the war ends. If the Ukrainians stop fighting, their land will be occupied, their leaders will be killed, their history and language will be erased, their children will be kidnapped to serve Russia.

What we learned today was simple. Putin is terrified of the Ukrainian air campaign against Russian refineries and oil infrastructure, and Trump (as always wants to help him).

Ukraine knows now what is must do.
