I'm back with another post, this time delving into "internet socialists" and, of course, roses. Enjoy this short piece.
A rose is not always a rose
On “online socialism”, post-literate society and something about roses.

Geraldine de Haas, who became the driving force behind Chicago’s jazz resurgence in the 1970s and ’80s, organizing festivals and concert series, has died. She was 91.

I picked up almost as much from the library as I did from school—real history, not that polished nonsense we were fed!

Another movie critique, where a moving-image is nothing but a patient whose unconscious is being analysed.

When film fails for profit, when myths are forgotten. I'm back with a critique of Nolan's highly praised Odyssey.

Revisiting Bowie’s classic and a film. Bit of daydreaming, bit of existentialism.

Populists, particularly on the hard right, dislike public-service broadcasters, which they see as run by air-kissing urbanistas. But politicians are not the only challenge facing state-run media
Europe’s public broadcasters go from prime time to hard-to-find
Apathetic teenagers and culture warriors are hobbling venerable state media outlets

It would be nice to say I'm objective. Thus, in my last essay, I've omitted the "burnout" part. Now I wish I had put it in there. Or maybe I should revisit it once again, once it's all gone?

If you wish to read it, it's free on Substack. As always, feel free to comment and share your opinions.

After Egypt's historic knockout win over Australia, head coach Hossam Hassan walked onto the pitch carrying a PALESTINE flag.

While it might seem that Hungary is on a path to a European future, don't forget that (centre)-right politics will still harbour far-right and will lead to some freedoms being limited.

Hope to see more left-wing governments emerge in Europe to save parliamentary democracy.
Tens of thousands marched in Budapest's Pride parade on Saturday, braving searing heat to celebrate a newfound freedom to gather after the fall of nationalist Viktor Orban, whose government banned last year's march.

Even saying goodbye is politics. But also, there's an aesthetic to it. A beauty of sorts. I write about it in my latest essay - Goodbye and the mind.
Goodbye and the mind
On saying goodbye, archiving the chats and personal existence.

On 20th of June, Croatian writer Slavenka Drakulić has passed away, battling both social and biological diseases. Her feminist struggle and infinite creativity still makes me return to her works.

Writers never die. They just stop writing. Rest in peace.

To re-invent Love is to realise that the society is changing, and not in a good way. But there's hope.
Is Love in any way political?
Or are we just unable to fall in love?

FIFA is again caught amidst the game of the working people and the authoritarianism it supports.
Reports from people, including pro footballers, from all over the world who arrived in the US ahead of the World Cup, say that the US is dog shit and US authorities are being incompetent and rude, mistreating visitors. Meanwhile, Mexico & Canada are getting praise from everyone.

Might be worth to write about this phenomenon in the context of post-literate society.

As with any philosophical concept, alienation gets itself more alien and worth revisiting.
