In case you’re wondering what’s going on with all these stories… I refer you to yesterday’s drawing of the day:

IT IS A COUP!

I feel like if we were all transported back into medieval times we’d be pretty good jesters in terms of remembering songs and the sheer volume of music consumed, but we’d mostly starve for lack of functional skills to sustain ourselves in a pre industrial age.

social media is a nightmare these days, but i just need to say:

the way you talk about strangers’ experiences of sexual assault tells the survivors in your real life whether or not you can be trusted with their stories and their safety.

and there *are* survivors in your life, so don’t fuck it up.

The US has extremely large agencies with billions in funding and staff available to brief Congress members. Ignorant shit like this is a sign he has no idea how government works, which should be disqualifying for his job.
this gaffe should follow Eric Schmitt around for the rest of his political life

(Jack Smith was actually in Maryland at a HAWKEYES game, not in Atlanta colluding with Fani Willis as Schmitt alleged)

they DIDN'T REFUND her fucking TUITION?????
"Meanwhile, Jane Doe dropped out of Cornell and was denied her request to get her tuition refunded so that she could transfer to a different college. She hence faced more severe consequences than most of the men who she alleges gang-raped her."

What It Feels Like at Cornell Right Now
As a professor at the Ivy League school, Kate Manne has known many, many victims. There’s a palpable feeling on campus, she writes, that this is big.

A court says you can’t do X, what do you do?
Name 3 allies?
A woman says no, how do you respond?
Future presidential debates should probably feature questions like "are you stupid enough to start a cold war with Canada" or "who pays a tariff"

As we discuss the rapist to positions of power pipeline (president, judge, law enforcement, etc) one thing that I remain grateful for is when I’ve worked remotely I never needed to worry about my physical safety in the workplace. Because those rapists without consequences have jobs too.

While free press is under attack Trump dozes off and lets tax payer funded ads keep him on TV.
Meanwhile his administration is repealing TitleX protections for LGBT students and victims of sexual assault.

Random thought as I see yet another story of Russia bombing Ukraine- while the distributed nature of the US makes attacks different we also lack the subway tunnels that so many people find themselves sheltering in as the war goes on. Transit is a service in good times and emergency shelter in bad

Every day, this administration continues to target LGBTQIA+ kids. It’s incredibly harmful and does the exact opposite of what our shared goal should be: protecting kids.

The LGBTQIA+ community and all our students deserve better.

Fuck this. LGBTQ+ youth deserve so much more than this.

Equal rights make us all safer, they are not an attack on women’s rights.

There were more men in a single documented gang rape at one school than the number of competitive trans athletes nationally. But I’ve heard a lot more politicians being asked about protecting girls from one of these scenarios and not another… I’ll let you guess which is which.
There’s something to be said for how most of the political spectrum can unite around hounding some lesbians over niche drama in their spaces but huge segments of society are silent about pervasive campus rape impacting a huge population of primarily youngwomen
