This animated map shows Europe from 24,100 BC until today. The crust sags under the ice and rebounds after it, and the sea drops 130 m as the water is locked up. The interactive version allows you to tilt the map: buff.ly/Pfj3exH

I'm 50/50 on whether the GOP finds a way to move on, or just nominates an AI Trump avatar for president after he croaks.
Donald Trump has been so successful at remaking the Republican Party as a monument to himself that it has little alternative but to keep exalting him no matter how low his approval ratings sink
How Donald Trump boxed his party in
Despite his unpopularity, Republicans have to bet on him to hold their congressional majorities

The most disappointing thing about the Lake Ontario and Gulf of Mexico fuckery is that it felt the internet was at least going to converge maps on some kind of shared reality.

But nope, still susceptible to some lunatic with power who wants to name something themselves.

I guess it turns out 100 more cops didn't fix the city. So we're dropping those 100 cops from the budget, right? Right? Riiight?

This is 3 months out and only includes decided voters - undecideds still make up a plurality of responses in this poll.

It's loyalists and name (and/or party) recognition at this point. The incumbent mayor starting out around 30% isn't great for his chances.
Vancouver - Mayoral Polling:

🟡Sim (ABC): 30%
🔴Allam (LIB): 19%
🟢Fry (GRN): 19%
🔵Hardwick (TEAM): 14%
🟣Bligh (VOTE): 7%
⚪️Azaroff (ONE): 5%
🟠Allen (COPE): 4%

Flew a newly-refurbished Air Canada A321 today and watched Sarah Squirm Live + In the Flesh in 4k on a 13" screen in economy class.

AC loads the most insane content completely uncensored on their in-flight entertainment system and I love them so much for it.

Possibility for a rare summer thunderstorm across the South Coast Thursday night into early Friday morning
I literally fly out of YVR 3.5 hours before this… My luck in missing Vancouver thunderstorms (if they happen) is unsurpassed & unrivalled.

If you have never heard of RVI - the Ryan Vacation Index - those weather weenies of BC and the US PNW can attest that is in fact, a thing! 🙄

A single black woman surrounded by hooded white supremacists is certainly a chilling image.

The city is prepping for the removal of the traffic deck at Broadway and Cambie and this curb cut and bollard situation at 8th & Ash is laughable.

Basically assuming cars are going to be turning so quickly they would have been up on 2m of the existing sidewalk.

Traffic enforcement. Now

At the very least, it needs to be regulated that purchasing any media - a game, a movie, an album, etc. - means you are entitled to download a copy of it to keep and use in perpetuity. If a company revokes a product or no longer provides DRM, consider it lapsed and free to share.
it’s long past time lawmakers addressed how companies have taken the switch to digital to redefine purchases as licensing rather than ownership. it’s most egregious when it comes to libraries, but it’s harmful to everyone.
Just a reminder that Playstation is the same company that, less than a week ago, removed 551 movie titles from people's accounts even if they were "purchased" and gave no refunds. They've already signaled they are not to be trusted with digital only products.

It is an easy question: The House that Heaven Built by the Japandroids. Easy to sing in any range, has a fucking magical nonverbal shouty hook
On Canada Day, as Canada becomes more of a football nation, I think we need to learn how to sing, the way so many other nations do. But what song should Canadian sing as part of our evolution as football fans? It’s not an easy question. www.thestar.com/sports/socce...
Bruce Arthur: Canada is becoming a football nation. Now it needs a fight song
World Cup run feels like a turning point and great nations chant and sing. Canada, broadly, does not. Or not enough.

'We're averaging two Watergates per day' is a hell of a thing to say about your own administration
JD Vance: "I think Nixon's historical legacy is enjoying a bit of a renaissance, and deservedly so. I joked that if Watergate happened tomorrow, it would be like a 12 hours news story. The idea that it took down a presidency is crazy."

OTrain Line 4 is wild - it costs the same as a bus fare to have a private train, and you get to South Keys 4x slower so you can really luxuriate in the experience.

'God damn Canada, why do you have to take everything so seriously? We were just being funny about making
you a vassal state. Can't you take a fucking joke?'

The whole RW project right now is tied up in the language of abusers. Everything is gender, etc.
Hoekstra: But if you need some [bourbon], send me your order and I'll see that you get some. I do know Canadians don't have much of a sense of humour, so I'm already in trouble.

Really sick pattern from the ABC majority: amend motions to make them completely toothless, then vote in favour and force any councillor with principles to vote against or abstain.

Utter garbage tactics that the next council (or province) must put an end to.
Dominato literally just said: "I will be whole heartedly supporting the report in its entirety."

SHE JUST VOTED TO GUT THE MOST IMPORTANT, CENTRAL PART.

Utterly shameless. Just straight up gas lighting the public. Gross.

Put the CEOs of United, Delta and American in a cage match on the White House lawn to decide which hub airport gets fucked over first.
Faulkner: "Sanctuary cities include Boston, Chicago, Denver, LA, NY, Philadelphia, SF. All of those airports handle 1,100 int'l flights per day. They're not just gonna not fly. They're gonna go to red states and cities. A boon for red states. People will just really hate living in blue states."
