The same day I discover the ScummVM version now features automapping and that there is a project that added smooth movement/modern real-time to EotB.

a lot of non-gun-nut people have a gun lobbyist in their heart, because they seem to think that if you say "a person did this, the person is responsible" you are somehow saying "and that's why there should be no limits on the tool"
i have always argued the only logical end to "guns don't kill people, people kill people [with guns]" is "and that's why we should prevent most people from having access to guns."
the fact that it's the pro-gun-lobby's slogan doesn't mean their conclusion checks out

"AI" (as in LLMs) doesn't have intelligence nor is it artificial; it's literally using statistics to rearrange human-written words.

I would like media to care more about the reality that tech tycoons want to kill people than what they’re imagining about AI wanting to kill people. We have multi-millionaires (with support from billionaires!) calling for ethnic cleansing, a thing that has happened in living memory. Not theoretical!

Alex Karp of Palantir says the AI industry must be nationalized to protect it from lawsuits if it accidentally destroys the world. More likely, he sees the bubble about to burst and he wants to be bought out with our tax dollars before that happens.

what's with treating "name" as if it's a magic incantation?
"genuinely" and "honest" make sense (disgusting as it is) bc they're used in that way by actual people, but
the newer models especially seem to invent fancy noun sequences instead of a clause with S,O,V

i want to read something on why llms focus so much on weird ~ceremonial~ uses of nouns and verbs, freighting them with meaning they don't have, and using them like thought-terminating clichés.
it's not just awkward. and i'd say there's very little real-world sample data to cause this.
