In my articles, I’ve celebrated disability as well as highlighting areas where attitudes and policy need to be improved (you can find these at the link in my bio).

The quilt represents lots of the topics I covered in my article. I can tell my story of chronic illness through the embroidery, enjoy the mindful qualities of stitching, connect with others on the project and create a sense of virtual community.

In my article for @inspirethemind.bsky.social, I wrote about how embroidery can help chronically ill people to connect with others by sharing photos, joining art communities, and initiatives such as The Chronic Market where chronically ill people can sell their work and tell their stories.

I wrote this article for @inspirethemind.bsky.social about my experience of chronic illness and loneliness, and how I have used the mindful practice of embroidery to process emotions, connect with my disabled identity, and connect with people and communities through the art form. (Pt 3)

Becoming chronically ill caused me to become socially isolated and I have experienced the feelings of loneliness that comes with this. (Pt 2)

This week is Loneliness Awareness Week. The campaign aims to reduce loneliness in society by reducing stigma surrounding loneliness, promoting social connections and creating a sense of belonging. (Pt 1)
