I made fun of Chappell Roan when she suddenly had this opinion AFTER the election, but in a vacuum she was broadly correct that she is not not someone you should look to for political knowledge. Being famous is a full time job and anyone who wants that life is not normal anyway

My hottake: encouraging celebrities to "use their platform" and be loudly political is a bad idea not because it's intrusive to polite society but because most of them are dumb as shit outside their chosen profession

we don't need to encourage being loud and influentially wrong

“You can't always look at things from someone else's Point of View. For instance, from here that looks like a bucket of water," he said, pointing to a bucket of water; "but from an ant's point of view it's a vast ocean, from an elephant's just a cool drink, and to a fish, of course, it's home.“

“Dig in,” said the king, looking disapprovingly at Milo’s plate. “I can’t say that I think much of your choice.”

“I didn’t know that I was going to have to eat my words,” objected Milo.

“Of course, of course, everyone here does,” the king grunted. “You should have made a tastier speech.”

ICE is a menace to democracy and its murderous conduct should be soberly considered. But we should also recognize that these people are weak and sad and ought to be made fun of.

Data center fight is giving people first hand experience that the many can take on the money. Once people feel what solidarity can achieve, it becomes that much harder to divide & distract. There's a reason why unions members less susceptible to far right than same demographic folks not in unions.

"To everyone?" said Milo unhappily. He looked around slowly at all the friends he'd made, and he looked very hard so as not to forget any of them for even an instant.

You cannot gut global health systems, attack scientific institutions, withdraw international cooperation, and then act shocked when disease response worsens. Public health depends on collaboration and expertise – things this admin continues to undermine.

Totally worth paying a little to get good, non-slop results. Consciously using a product, not being the product.

At Kagi, we're doing the opposite. We're doubling down on SlopStop:

We do offer AI features (all of them optional) but that's not a compromise on our core mission: defending the human web. That's why we also actively support the Small Web in our results.
Google announces it will now prioritize AI-generated answers in Search results over human-written website articles.

A move that could make it significantly harder for independent websites to gain organic traffic starting next Tuesday.

I feel awful about having to ask for help, but we are suing our landlord for refusing to make repairs due to extensive water damage and active leaks in our apt. We have signed a lease & paid deposit on a new place, but need help with moving expenses. Any help or shares are greatly appreciated. xx
