As Rob Hatch said on La Vuelta a España 🇪🇸 comms, it would make much more sense to have the Canary Islands 🇮🇨 at the end of the race rather than the start as it will likely involve all the massive mountains including Teide. That is too hard for the opening three stages of a Grand Tour!
Canary Islands still want to welcome La Vuelta, possibly in 2028 but it's a huge logistical puzzle/nightmare. The two islands mentioned are Gran Canaria and Tenerife www.marca.com/ciclismo/vue...
