Another large mixed-use project planned in the North Rainier corridor. The neighborhood keeps the tally going.
This 200 unit project is going up without design review and without a land use permit because it has some affordable housing in it

So my question is, why does *any* project need to go through design review or obtain a land use permit?

The city openly admits they are meaningless

Recently, I found where my great-grandmother lived in Downtown Renton via school census records (very cool these were done yearly!).

637 Morris Ave S. Built 1915.

Simple enough. But when I went to look at the 1936 Aerial, nothing was there. 1927 Sanborn map, the house wasn’t there.

This looks wonderful. St. Louis continues to build out a really impressive central greenway.
New renderings for the Forest Park Connector along Clayton into Forest Park show paving, landscape and amenity enhancements as well as improvements at the nodes near the pedestrian bridge and inside Forest Park. Final designs expected Q3 of ‘27. www.stlouis-mo.gov/government/d...

Check out my neighbor’s sunflower garden. Townhome owners maximize their precious space, I’ll tell you what.

Anecdotal but I feel like 8 AM Sunday mass attendance at St James Cathedral is way up in the past year or so.

Canyon is selling an ebike with a Bosch mid-drive motor for $1300… and it’s HSA/FSA eligible.
Precede:ON Comfort 5
City riding has never been so simple. With a one size-fits-all frame, strong, smooth Bosch motor power up to 28 mph, and a confident upright riding position, all you have to do is pedal.

$38B spent on unjust death could have paid for West Seattle Ballard Link Extension and then some.
CBO estimates that Iran War cost DoD $38B through August 1. That figure covers incremental DoD costs only; excludes routine costs already budgeted, costs borne by other agencies, and costs CBO was unable to estimate, such as damage to US bases and certain longer-term expenses
Estimating the Cost of Combat Operations Against Iran
CBO assesses the Department of Defense's costs for the current armed conflict against Iran, as well as the conflict's economic and budgetary effects.

Look at those views from the new affordable housing project atop Beacon Hill. Am I selfish for wishing we’d get some more rooftop restaurants and bars outside of downtown in this city?

This slipped my mind last weekend but it looks like about 80 people went to the Italian mass at Our Lady of Mount Virgin.

Milk Drunk on Beacon Hill has Thai Tea soft serve for the month of September. What a beautiful concept.

Acknowledging the photo quality is suboptimal but are these the same people ~15 years apart? What do you think?

I’d love to know how this new construction townhome project in my neighborhood got away with a lazy, cheap asphalt sidewalk when every other new construction project pours a concrete sidewalk to city specs.

Today was a great day living in the city.

7 AM, walk the dogs thru the neighborhood
10 AM, bike to the central library to read some old history books
12 PM, watch the Dawgs play on my rooftop deck. Bike to get tacos and check out the Farmers Market at half.
5 PM, bike to the Jazz Festival.

If I didn’t want Sam Darnold to get hurt to open the season, I would have simply kept Bittersweet Symphony as the song coming out of the tunnel instead of changing it to Nirvana. Don’t mess with the vibes like that.

In 1923, Washington State saw its largest KKK rally at People’s Park in the Renton Junction area less than one mile west of this community. At this “Konvention,” tens of thousands of people showed up to espouse their hatred for immigrants and people of color among other groups.
