Sep 18, 1936: Canadian Pacific Railway F2a class 4-4-4 Jubilee steam locomotive No. 3003 sets a speed record of 112.5 mph (181 km/h) on the Winchester Subdivision between Smiths Falls and Montreal. The locomotive set the record while hauling a train of CP's new lightweight passenger equipment.

The TRM received a $29,350 grant from the Ministry of Canadian Identity and Culture through the Museums Assistance Program. The grant supports hiring our collections assistant, Justin, and purchasing new archival supplies and shelving. Thank you to the Government of Canada!

Sep 15, 2001: the former CN Markham station reopens for use as a GO Transit station on the Stouffville line. The station was originally built in 1871 for the Toronto & Nipissing Railway and was remodelled by its successor the Grand Trunk Railway in 1898 and 1910.

A blast form the past. Essex Terminal Railways Number 9 blasts through a photo run past at its re-launch into service on the Waterloo Central Railway this Sunday following an overhaul. We were on the first of two excursions she hauled on Sunday. and this is a panning shot during the 2nd run past. The out of focus areas I felt at least lent themselves to a bit of selective black and white as the 103 years young steam locomotive put on a show. Video of the days runs is below.
