Great thread. Some confusion, but great. That pull from CURE is already better than 90 percent of what gets suggested below.
My kid has started a Letterboxd list called Killer Sweaters for films where the killer wears a great sweater and they've asked me to throw it out to Bluesky for more because "that's the kind of thing those weirdos like to do"

It sucks giving up harmful habits because I just end up finding new harmful things. Now I gotta miss Marlboros AND doomscrolling? Buncha bullshit.

So much to be horrified by in NAZA, but a smaller but still shocking thing is just how easily the IDF is able to hack into everyone’s smart phones and turn them into locators AND listening devices. Everyone.

It is as if I could dip my hand down // into time and scoop up / blue and green lozenges of April heat / a year ago in another country. // I can feel that other day running underneath this one / like an old videotape.

Iowa’s Big Ten suburb Coralville also ditched theirs after public outcry. These are liberal enclaves not hard leftists.
Last November, the city of Verona, Wisconsin, pulled out of a sprawling surveillance network run by Flock Safety. The company waited months to remove its cameras installed around town, only doing so when the city finally covered them with plastic bags.
This Wisconsin City Ditched AI Surveillance Cameras. Now Activists Want to Keep Going.
Some cities are opting out of camera networks like Flock’s, concerned about abuse by police and immigration authorities. Organizers hope Dane County is the “next big domino” to fall.

I used to judge hate-watchers, but then I realized I am choking down these episodes of Shrinking. A stripped-down version of Edward Sharpe's "Home" over a montage of our heroes telling family they love them? 🤢

This show isn't entertainment, it's Sesame Street for privileged white people.

Keke Palmer starring in a rebooted The 'Burbs should have equaled a slam dunk. Instead it's 3, maybe 4 episodes stretched to 8 that end on a nonsense cliffhanger to setup a second season. Pass.

We’ve all decided on “quiet, piggy” as the line when it happens, right?

This runtime list of Coen Bros movies is missing their longest, Buster Scruggs (2'13"), and Hail, Caesar!, which ties A Serious Man at 1'46''.

Only two of their movies push past the 2-hour mark. But which of their movies do you think should have been longer?

Fiction can get at truth more easily than documentary. It’s often more honest.

Pandering(?) but funny moments in the last couple movies I've seen: First, in WAKE UP DEAD MAN, the people in line at the book signing & the cut to Andrew Scott's face. Second, the DVDs that Stellan Skarsgard gives his 9-yo grandson for his birthday in SENTIMENTAL VALUE. A very loud audience laugh.

There’s a moment in Train Dreams where Robert sits on his bed and looks out the window. A beat, a cut, and now he’s aged ten or twenty years but still in the same position. It is so banal to describe and so affecting on the screen.
